Is it just me or does there seem to be a huge amount of earthquakes lately. I think NZ has had one decent one a day for the last 3 days and more before that. Im starting to wonder if the big one or a tsunami is just around to corner! I have a huge fear of a tsunami so I hope its nothing.

Having lots of small earthquakes is actually good. It releases the pressure caused by the plates regularly rather than it building up for a big one. Also, people are saying there are more earthquakes but actually peole are living in more remote areas so are feeling earthquakes that in the past would've gone unnoticed (in japan I worked with a man who was in charge of the Earthquake commisioni n Tokyo)

Yer living here in newlands we seem to feel them alot more than where we used to be in Tawa. The biggest one i have felt was when i was at work and the building just shook so bad people were screaming etc i just wanted to go home and curl up in a ball in bed lol

Funnily enough I don't seem to feel earthquakes much these days - I used to be really sensitive to them and could hear them coming but I haven't felt one in ages even though we have had some fairly biggish ones in Wellington over the last few years.

We've had some real biggies here in Dannevirke over the years, but none for a while. They kinda just become a part of life...

I hate them - they really freak me out. Living in Wellington you seem to get so many of them - every time I think "is this the big one?"

I remember sitting in a meeting in the Bowen State Building (opposite the courtyard from the Beehive) and suddenly feeling the room shake - the Wellingtonians didn't even pause mid-sentence - all of my fellow Aucklanders turned a shade of grey and started looking around for desks to climb under.
