Hannah has been battling an ear infection for the last week but when I took her to the Doc on Thursday her own immune system seemed to be acting well and he didn't think antibiotics would help the situation. She hasn't really been complaining about sore ears or anything, just a bit more tired/irritable than usual.

Since yesterday I've been getting a bit concerned about her hearing. Today I asked her what she had been given by her friend Abbie, but she didn't know what I was saying (Baby? Amy?) I suspect the infection has affected her hearing somehow and am going to take her to the Doctor again tomorrow.

Anyone else had this? What things should I be looking for so I can answer whatever seemingly random questions I'll get asked tomorrow? What was done?

I would be asking for her ears to be tested, by the nurse. If she is saying things like that back to you then its def hard of hearing and not the usually toddler "hearing problems" selective hearing.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Okay have been to the Doc today and she has fluid in her ears - much like walking around with her fingers in her ears said the Doc (don't we know it! lol). It is not causing any other problems so no meds required but it may take a month or two to resolve

Hopefully I learn to talk louder before she learns how to "use" her handicap
