Topic: AF after first baby -better or worse? Posted: 16 March 2008 at 4:10pm |
Will warn you that this could possibly contain TMI as we get further on...
I swear I'm bleeding to death at the moment,my first AF arrived when Lucas was exactly 10 months old ...lasted the usual 7-8days and wasn't THAT heavy, but had a bit of clotting & SEVERE stomach cramping. So we get to 28 days and I don't get it again ...not too phased as I suspected that it will take a while for them to become regular again (no way I can be pregnant). I got this next AF on Friday and prior to that I had been feeling REALLY sick, severe stomach cramping with nausea this time ...very faint & yuck, had to spend an afternoon in bed etc etc ...and then I am greeted the next morning by AF. Except this time is diff than the last, bleeding very heavily, having to change pads every hour & clotting. I use to get them pretty bad before bubba but now it's just horrible ...the pain ARGH, the amount of blood? ....
So all that gory information aside, just wondering if anyone else found that after bub their periods are A LOT worse ...or do you think they have gotten better/less? ...also is there any links between menstruation and whether you have/are breastfeeding?

I got my first AF but it wasn't a REAL AF IYKWIM? 2 days prior to it coming I had WICKED stomach pains (like Braxton Hicks all over again) but then AF itself was really weak and only lasted 2 days. My normal usually lasts between 4-6 days so this definitely wasn't the real thing
Oh and I'm still BFing but have just recently started bottle feeding alternate feeds

Definitely a lot worse, got mine back around the same time as you after Alyssa was born and they haven't improved since then so I'm assuming that's how they will stay now.

I got mine back when Luke was 9 months old can you believe it it came on christmas morning!! Of all days and we were away at the in laws and I had no supplies!! Thank goodness for 4 squares!!!
Anyway since having Luke it's been heaps better, heavier but hardly any pain don't need to pop nurofen like candy!!
And regular well for me it's between 29 - 35 day cycle. Used to be anywhere from 25 - 72 day cycle. So it's 100% better now

Didnt get AF back till a year after first baby was born ( I think to do with bf and all) but when it did come back it was TERRIBLE! Cramps, heavy bleeeding and just so hard on my body. It seems to have settled down after subsequence pregnancies so there is hope lol

I got mie back when Maya was four months and it wasn't too bad, but after the gremlins it was nasty. I had my first one when they were 10 weeks old but it was only random spotting, then the second one about a month later but it was evilly heavy, clotty and I had about a week of bad period pain and cramps before it actually started. It did settle down after a few months tho, altho I guess I didn't actually get that many between then and getting pregnant again

Just to be different mine were better. I never really had a prob before though. They came back at 12mths and were a bit lighter and shorter than they used to be.

I got them back fairly soon (2 months-ish) but it is heaps better - don't even need panadol and only lasts 3 days tops.
