I'm off to the UK in April to visit my family. I need to hire a car seat for Rohan (he'll be about 10 months old) but I don't need to hire a car as I'll be being picked up.    

I've tried a web search but with no luck and the car hire places won't hire a seat without a car - so that would be expensive!

Any ideas on where I can get one or am I better off just buying one while I'm there?

Try mothercare or babycity is in the uk, they may not advertise the service on the net so might be worth flicking them an e-mail.

Can your family over there help you in finding something? sorry stating the obvious :) babycity etc over there is apparently really good according to my brother in law. dont know if they hire but they will be able to help you find something

We struggled in hiring when we went home last year, we ended up borrowing from a family friend, is that an option at all? You could try Ebay and get a cheap one to be delivered to a base in UK and then sell it on at the end of the holiday as that appeared our best option when it came to wnating one temprarily, family over there couldn't find any hire places but try you local yellowpages where you are going and there might be a local based baby gear hirer
