I think just like anything else, opinion on this subject will vary. I actually managed to breastfeed for the first four weeks but then decided to go to formula, and started my daughter on S26 Gold. I know there are a couple of other mums here who bottlefed their newborns from the start, but I keep forgetting which formulas they are on ! Heinz Nurture might be one of them. Anyway, it really comes down to which formula works best for bub.

we got james henzi hungry baby stuff but our midwife said that can be hard on bubs tummys and got us on karicare but as jax said every bubs is diff so is every fomala

My midwife recommends Karicare for babies that are excusively bottle fed. Nutricia have a great info line you can ring, the number is on the back of the formula tin and you can talk to their dietitians about the differences between whey and casein formulas, allergy risks etc. They were invaluable when we were trying to pinpoint Maya's allergies.

Olivia was on Karicare Newborn at the hospital, so we put her on Karicare Gold when we got home, the only difference is fish oil for brain development (apparently). But it is an extra $3-$5 depending on where you get your formula. As we were leaving hospital I asked one of the hospital midwives what other brands of formula I can use, and she recommended S26 Gold as they use it from time to time as well. But like James said, every baby is different.

I had to bottle feed my monster from about 3 weeks old and was given s26 by my midwife. I have since been told that it is the formula of choice of the hospital's if the have to comp a baby. If you want to try the different ones without buying a whole tin, just buy a few packets of each and see which one works best with your baby.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I got home from hospital and put ella on s26 gold which didnt agree with her, we also tried karicare which to didnt agree and shes now on Heinz Nurture and is doing really really well  Like has been said every baby is different...

we used s26 gold with both of my girls too.... they had used it in the hospital with my first daughter and we just continued using it.

When kobe was in nicu they recommended Heinz nurture starter because it is the gentlest on little tummies and he was prem then when addison was born they tried her on s26 in the hospital but it was to heavy and she kept spilling and also doing big vomits so I changed her to nurture starter and she is doing great. If bubs is still hungry all the time then you can go to a gold, thats got a few more things in it to fill them up and its thicker I think. I personally would start off with a whey domanint formula as they arent so heavy and hard on babys tummies.

Both the hospital, karitane nirse and my doctor said to give him the karicare as it was the 'closest taste to breastmilk' and thats the one they recommend to everyone.
My sugustion is to buy a few 'single' packets of a couple of brands, that way if he/she doesnt like it you can try the next one and you would not have wasted a whole tin... does that make sense?
