I would seriously consider getting him desexed too.

And yip Kelpies are very work driven - they need something to occupy their minds otherwise they find their own tasks like being a mischeif and being destructive.

thanks ladies

I think he may have to be desexed for sure!!

Um im not too sure if he was hurding the dog bcos he was on the otherside of the fence and i was standing in the dorrway in a towel!

and your right - he needs alot more "exercise/activites". DH takes them running up the bush for hours in the weeknds but clearly he needs more!

What kind of "work" can i give him to keep him ocupied??

Just remember that if he's over the age of 2, the "dominant entire male" behaviours are now habit which will need to be retrained out of him.
It's a common myth that desexing fixes problems. If it's done early in life (before 6 months old) it prevents issues, but once they get past the age of 2, the behaviours are then learned and so he needs to be redirected to acceptable behaviours.

I agree completely with everything Mum2Mac has said. I'm no dog trainer but I LOVE dogs and have read a lot of dog training books in my time and she has pretty much covered everything.

I personally have a Boxer Dog, desexed, aged 18 months. He is good with other dogs when out walking etc and will happily play with them but he is very protective of our property if another dog walks past and he will bark and growl (whilst wagging his tail.... well his stump as he doesn't have a tail! lol) There is no way he can get out as we have 6ft fences around the perimeter of the property. I have noticed tho that there are certain breeds that get him more worked up. Bichons and black large dogs (ie black labs, black collies or black shepherds) as of all the dogs that walk past our property, there are dogs of those descriptions that get walked off the leash and actually venture into our property (the gates holding Benson in are back from the footpath quite a bit) so that is when he goes nuts and looks like he would maul them if he had half a chance, but it's just him being territorial. The lady that walks past with the Bichon will stand at the end of our drive while her dog torments Benson thru the gate and she will bark at him and wind him up more! Had a go at her this morning cause I caught her doing it and told her that I will not be held responsible if my dog were to hurt her dog thru the fence in any way. So maybe your dog was just being territorial, maybe the handbag dog was sending out bad vibes..... lol
I really don't think you should put the dog down tho. It's not the dogs fault, he was obviously aggravated by something. Good luck!
