okay so i am using mummys touch nappies, but with RHiannons teething she is having 3-4 really sh*tty nappies that are instantly soaking through to the inserts and no amount of washing and hanging in the sun is getting the stains out of the inserts.

i have also tried soaking them in nappy san before washing them.

i was my nappies on a hot wash with a bit of napysan then do a cold rinse...and they are on the line from 8am-3 or 4pm

any suggestions would be good

Apparently white vinegar then hanging in the sun is very effective for poo stained nappies. (haven't tried myself, but read it on another forum)

Other trick that worked well when McKayla spilled out onto her clothes. (I dont do cloth however) was to put a bit of sunlight liqued on it and put it in the sun. Then do a cold wash after that.

If you think about it it is only food. (digested). So makes sense that sunlight will help.

Give it a go.

I'm a bit like Liz. My nappies themselves haven't stained but some of my inserts are and I'm actually more concerned that they may still hold some smell and release that when they are wet So what I've started doing recently is to nappisan every couple of weeks, but only whichever ones are waiting to be washed. Then a couple of weeks later I do it again - presumably they all soaked at some stage.

The other thing is that I don't have a hot tap for my washing machine.

you may find that the hot wash is setting the stains... perhaps do a rinse before you do the hot wash.

but yeah inserts are bound to get yuk, and grey...

Ok I can't resist...

Just feed her lots of different foods and you'll get rainbow-coloured inserts yellow, brown, green...

Was about to say what Gsmum said - hot water can set stains. I soak my inserts in Napisan and then just put them through a cold gentle cycle. I don't soak the pockets themselves unless they are 'dirty' otherwise I just drypail them and chuck them in the machine with the inserts and 1/2 scoop of powder then hang them in the sun. We've had no probs with staining - and my girls have tar in their nappies from the neocate

I got my first lot of staining when Briona had diahorrea - horrible watery sink-in stuff.
