My awful flatmate started moving yesterday.

*does wee dance*

DH just called to say she's at the property now and he found a bag full of my clothes, books & DVD (that I'd lent her) on our doorstep.

She has to be out by the end of today. The sun us shining and life is good

Yay that is good news, and yay for your stuff coming back.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I definitely will be!!

But even moving day hasn't been without dramas. Shortly after posting I got a call from my landlord as the flatmate had been on the phone to her demanding she come around and do a property inspection and refund her bond then and there. I am the tenant therefore it is my responsibility to do the inspection and the bond refund comes out of my own pocket. The landlord told me her mum got on the phone and started ranting at her too - poor lady.

So I rang the flatmate to say that I'd be doing the inspection and refunding the bond tonight (after the inspection) but didn't get to say anything. Convo transcript:

TBDS: Hello
Me: Hi, it's Jo here
TBDS: what do you want
Me: the landlord just rang me...
TBDS: Stay the hell away from me *slams phone down*

Then about 30 mins later DH called to say our landlord just turned up and did the property inspection - poor lady. I've just emailed her to apologise that she was dragged into the situation by that woman.

On the bright side the property is fine and I've refunded the bond now (internet banking) so *fingers crossed* I won't have to have anything to do with her ever again.

Yay! It will be nice to be on your own again. Are you going to survive money-wise?

My MIL is moving in on Saturday.

She is almost 70 and has health issues. Her DH died 3 weeks ago after a long struggle with cancer and she doesn't want to live next door to his son and down the road from his ex-wife and his other son anymore.

We've always said when he goes she could come and live with us - I always thought it would be in the spare room but I guess this is better as she has her own bedroom, lounge, bathroom, kitchenette, laundry & garden but is close enough so she has company when she wants it and if anything happens to her we're close by.

We'll have to pay a bit extra for rent and bills but she has a fantastic case worker at winz who is going to help her with accomodation supplement etc so it shouldn't be too bad. *fingers crossed*

Just checked the gear that the flatmate returned and see that she's kept one of my tops and all 3 of the birth to 1 yo parenting books I lent - but I figure it's a small price to pay.
