so i've asked about broadband before and didn't make a decision about who to go to.......now vodafone are offering a great deal on hm ph and broadband so i was wondering if anyone had any dealings with them and what they were like?

we have both our cellphones with them and have had no probs

it's hm ph, 5gb broadband which is free for a year so will only be $50 for the hm ph then $90 for both next year

Does it also include free NZ toll calls for the year???

My friend (blondy on here) has it and she loves it. I use her free toll calling whenever I need to make toll calls - apart from today when I had to ring Waiouru ASAP.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Didn't they buy IHUG? I haven't heard anything  bad about them.  5gb is pretty good too, what happens if you go over that though? Do  you get charged for the over use or do they slow you down to dial up speed?

I thought I heard the Vodafone thing say 1GB of broadband. We'd probably go through that in a day!

Wasn't really paying attention though

We're on the 1GB ihug plan and it works well for us. They've been a good provider though there have been a few hiccups last month but that was with the weather and out of their control and to their credit they did keep us updated.

Plus we get the internet package free for a year because we have home phone and tolls.

We've had the 5GB plan for nearly a year and love it! No problems whatsoever and they've been prompt with any queries/changes we've had.

We never make toll calls, and have our tolls with Orcon (also Internet) and phone with Telecom. Costs us $36 a month for the phone, and $50 for the internet (15gb, max download) after the $10 tolls discount... so $86 a month really isn't bad. I suppose it depends on what your habbits are I guess.

we've just switched over from telecom (but with 20gb internet) and it was the unlimited national calls that did it for us - even when I tried not to make tolls we were spending a small fortune!! I'll let you know how we go...

we don't make toll calls so don't really need that...if we do, we use our cellph's because we have free mins.

nikki...it is for 1GB but you can get the 5GB plan as well but pay a little more. i don't think that 1GB would be enough. i think you pay $5 for 1GB extra lots when you run out...but i could be wrong as i've looked at a few plans lately

think i'll go for it! i'm sick of dial up

Vanessa, check what their overusage charges are first! People get stung BIG by that. Also do they supply modem and install or do you have too?

We have been with ihug for the past five years. We've gone through a variety of plans -- starting with dial-up through ihug and home phone through Telecom. When we moved house about three years ago we swapped to both internet and phone through ihug, and we've incrementally increased our internet so now we're on just about the highest broadband plan we can get, as we use the internet a LOT.

From memory, when we went over our broadband limit before, it automatically dropped us down to dial-up speed until the beginning of our billing period when it would "reset" itself. I didn't know you could buy extra 1GB lots for $5 or something like that so maybe that's something that came in after we switched to the high-usage plan.

My gripes with them, especially now they're with Vodafone, is their customer service. I hate ringing up and hanging on hold for half an hour only to be told that in order to fix my problem, I should go turn the router off and on again. The broadband can be sporadic -- for about six months there we had really random outages, toll calls had terrible reception, and the internet would just stop working at really strange and random intervals. They seem to have improved that end of things in the last couple of months, but in terms of customer service I still think they've got too much on their plate now they've merged with Vodafone. But it's too much of a pain to switch so I suspect we'll just stick with them until they do something to REALLY annoy me...

well we are all go! i'm so excited about getting broadband FINALLY!

$40/mth for hm ph and in jan it will be $70 for hm ph and 1GB broadband. we can buy 1GB a mth for $5 if we run out or we can upgrade to 5GB for an extra $10/mth.....which we may do depending on how much we use

our modem etc is in the post next week and we don't have to do anything about telecom, they do it for us........something i bet they take great pleasure in

Yeah I have it we get broadband home line and national calling anytime for only I think $62 per month we are saving heaps and they also email you your bill we have had no problems with them at all. The only catch was that if we canned it within a year we will have to pay $150 (i think)
but I love having the freedom to make a toll call and its not gonna cost an arm and leg!
