Topic: The body of a 50 year old...:( Posted: 11 February 2009 at 9:41pm |
I am so upset I was a bit too close to the mirror this evening after my shower, and there they were. Big fat varicous veins
I am already covered from top to toe with stretchmarks. Not to mention my sagging, stretched post-breastfeeding boobs that dont fit in bras. Did I mention my belly button that is covered by a roll of flab? That is weeping at the moment
I just had a wee cry to DH. I just feel so horrible and so unattractive these days. Ive never been bothered by it and Ive always tried to stay positive, but tonight I think its all just really got to me. I just feel like Ive totally let myself go over the past two years or so. It probably doesnt help that all my friends are wearing gorgeous summer dresses and shorts this summer.
Did I add cellulite in there too?
Sorry for the rant. Im sure theres plenty of us that have issues with our bodies.

Go find a beautiful maxi-dress!!
At my best when I was fit and sexy and long before baby I worked as a promotions model, now I'm heavier, saggier, veiny, stretchmarky, my tummy will NEVER see the light of day again, but when I put on my favourite dress and a pair of nice shoes I feel like maybe I am still attractive,
I found adjusting to the post-baby body really hard, have gone as far as taking mirrors out of bedroom and installing a little face mirror in bathroom.
It's ok, our children see their mummy and our men see an amazing creature that is capable of super-human feats to bring life into the world.
Find something to make you feel pretty, and DO IT! Big

Oh hun I'm sorry you're down about yourself at the moment. I know we all have those moments! I have had a down "moment" for about 2 weeks now! I don't actually believe you have any celulite nor a roll of flab over your belly button, cos you ALWAYS look skinny and FAB in your photos!!!

I was thinking the same as Italiah .. and your stunning to boot!
But .. I understand how you feel ... I was a bodybuilder in my previous life so Ive had a hard time adapting to my post baby flab .. so I just got pregnant again to fill out the left over skin

Thank you ladies, thats very kind.
I guess Im really just battling with this because I cant change it. Unlike weight gain where you can resolve things by losing weight...
I was doing a lot of exercise once Jackson was born and I just feel really bummed that no matter what I do, Im stuck with all of this. Mum told me to blame my bad genes!
Maybe a new dress could be the trick. Me and DH are going away this weekend for our anniversary, perhaps he could take me out for tea so I have an exuse to wear it.
Lilfatty, do you think you'll ever go back to bodybuilding?

Kaiz you are STUNNING! And I think you need to look at your photos of when you were 30kgs heavier and realise how amazing you really do look.
Your weight loss inspired SO many people!

Im not sure .. I miss it .. but not "that" life.
I only did it as a "goal" to lose 35 kgs .. then it became a habit and then a passion.
Now I have an Isabelle .. she is my passion

I have those feelings to. But everytime I look at my wiggly bits, that didn't used to be there before I had my precious wee girl, I think to myself those extra bits of skin are there because they helped protect, nourish and kept warm for 9 months the lovely wee bundle of joy I love and cherish sooo much. Without that skin she wouldn't be here today.

Oh man, you ladies are making me cry (as usual), I know how you feel too Kaiz, I'm all veiny and stretched and my bottom no longer fits any of my old pants.
I am slowly accepting that this is the next stage in my life, I need to get new (sexy) clothes to suit this new body.
I would never trade my daughter for my old nice body though, it's a sacrifice I have made and do not regret it. Noisybaby, you said it all so well!
It is wonderful that your DH listens to your woes and is taking you away for a nice wee holiday, he sounds lovely
