Topic: vomit smell Posted: 15 December 2006 at 2:11pm |
Jake has been vomitting for the past two days....and in a spell of terrible timing - he threw up on the way to take the rug doctor BACK to pak n save. Only onece on my (newly cleaned) carpet, but has done it twice on my (3 month old) sofa. Anypne know how to get out the smell? it doesn't stain, but both times was milk he threw up and it stinks. lewis "mopped it" up with a towel, and when we got home from town today - it smelt the whole house out. Currently the cushions are outside - i scrubeed them with water, detergent and white vinegar. any other brilliant ideas for stench-free sofa cushions????
P.S Went to the doctor for Jake and I have to collect stool samples...what a wonderful job we mums have huh!!! Oh, and Jake is much perkier today, although still not eating.

I second Fabreeze - brilliant stuff!
Gets rid of cat pee smell out of carpet, so should work for milk vomit.

yep thats what i was going to suggest. I keep a supply of it and also use it on Kobes mattress if he throws up on that (happens all the time), works on floors, everything.

Oh that sounds like the bug that is going to rounds at the moment. I have just come back from my MW and she told me that heaps of woman that are pregnant are sick with the v's and d's. But to get the smell out the stuff that has been said before.

Yip Febreeze is great. Also I thought most stain cleaners had some kind of smell to them. What are stool samples?

Linelle - in other words, she has to catch his poops. Not so fun !
And Febreze is good, but I've also cleaned it out then put peppermint essential oil on the yucky spot, and it seems to overpower the smell, then fade to smell a lot nicer (discovered this after throwing up all over my own mattress after my 21st ).

Jake is in nappies this week so not so bad. he can't control the poo (I know TMI) and I'm not cleaning THAT up from everything - so nappies it is. makes "collection" easier too. Thanks for the tip. will go and getr some febreeze tomorrow.
