Hmmm between 3-6 weeks. You will definitely need help after the procedure. It's not that bad, but it hurts just like any surgery.

You need to speak to the surgeon.

Good Luck.

Not me, but my sister had it done with a 2 year old and a 6 month old (I think). She had her MIL visit for about 4 weeks to help out. Can't remember what the lifting restrictions were, sorry.

My work colleague had hers done early Dec 07. They did the left and then two weeks later did the right so at least by the time they did the second hand she had begun to get some movement and was able to grip light items (ie paper).

She was not fully right till about the end of January and was still not able to lift anything heavier than about 5 - 10 kgs.

You will definitely need help and not really be able to grip/lift anything for at least a month.

If in doubt maybe go and get a second opinion if you haven't already. Surgeons are only designed to do one thing and that is operate - it may actually not be the best treatment for your condition.

I know of a couple of cases where people were referred by their doctors to surgeons for this op and they decided to get a second opinion and visited an Osteopath who after a few visits was able to resolve their issues and cure the problem because they actually investigated the problem properly, their case history, work roles, daily routines and found that in actual fact carpel rtunnel Sybdrome was not the problem

My dad had it done on one wrist and he wasn't able to do squat for about 4 weeks and even then it was very basic and light. It's a bit rough getting both done at once - how would you cope with getting dressed and doing day to day things like that?
