Topic: Friggin Tower Health Insurance!!!!!!! Posted: 11 March 2008 at 10:33pm |
WARNING! Major rant follows!!!
So you all know that recently I've had more than my fair share of dramas over the past month or so, so forgive me the pity party but there really is not much more I can take without going totally nuts-o (as oppossed to the over-half-way-there where I find myself most days lately lol)
Last Friday I filled in all of my paperwork last week for my surgery pre-approval claim and sent them a copy of every letter back and forth from GP & Spec and the scan results etc as I need the claim approved before 4pm this Thursday so I didn't want any hold ups.
Well - what do ya know!?!? I get a call today from Tower Claims lady (I use the word "lady" VERY losely! She was a total bee-a-tch!) telling me that she would be requesting more info from my GP and that I should prepare myself to postpone my op!
Me: "why??!?!" *on verge of tears*
Claims Hag: "because it says here the pain could be to do with your periods and it also says you have had those periods for over 7 years which would be excluded from your cover"
*stunned silence*
Me: "so you're thinking of not covering me for having periods?!?!?!? Even though they have only required medical attention for the past 12 months?!?!? AND even though I have been a member for 7 years which would cover me even if this was a pre-existing condition (3yr stand down)AND even though you have already refunded over $3000 worth of Gnae consultations and ultrasounds for the exact same thing!?!?"
Claims Hag: "yes that is right"
Can you believe these people?!?!?!
Anyways - It's all sorted now as my DARLING GP!!!! called them and gave them what for (she hates them too! lol) including 10 years medical history none of which was for painful periods!
SHOVE THAT TOWER and shame on you for trying to wriggle out of claim that is ridiculously straight forward!
P.S
I used to work for Southern Cross and approved thousands of laparoscopy claims so I know when I have a straight forward claim

OMG! SO if you needed heart surgery would you be excluded because your heart has been beating for your whole life therefore it is pre-existing. Bloody stupid wench!

Kandice, with southern cross I rang up before Tom was born to find out and they said to ring within the first 3 months and then any pre exisitng would be automatically covered,. As it was they rang us while we were still in hospital to see if bubs had arrived and needed tobe added. I was impressed.
I think you should just phone them. Kylah might just have a stand down period for claims but she is healthy so shouldnt be a prob.

well the wankers (ha ha! I got away with it too!) are STILL querying my cover as waaaaaay back in 2000 I went to the GP because I was a week late (and no, not pregnant) now the ASS HATS are saying this is something I should have disclosed when I joined!
I'm soooooo livid!
GP is going to vouch for me tomorrow hopefully. I just hope this all gets sorted tomorrow or else I don't think I can have my op on Monday!
Funny thing is though... I've spent the past 8 months doing everything I can to avoid this op and now I'm having to fight TO have it
TOWER - YOU SUCK!

And you know what, I could tell from her voice that she was seething because she had to approve my claim!
So yay! I get to have my "tummy tuck" and treat myself to some nice new PJs
