Topic: PLEASE help.....bad bad smell.. Posted: 09 February 2008 at 1:26pm |
So I have noticed a slightly dodgy smell for the past few days coming from the kitchen cupboard where I keep cups and plates etc....it wasn't too bad but was on my to do list to investigate this weekend. Anyways I am just doing the dishes and I notice its really bad..so decide to have a look. In the back of the cupboard I find a bag of rancid potatos, I am not kidding you they have liquified..and when I move the bag it lets the full potential of the hideous stench free, I was gagging on it. ( I have to mention that this is not a food cupboard and I am assuming my charming ex put them there for some reason before he left...in November)
I have cleaned up all the goop, but I can't get rid of the smell, I am afraid my cupboard is going to reek forever.
Please give me some ideas of how to get rid of the smell. I will try anything..

You could try putting some baking soda on the area leave it over night and then vacuum up or filling a container with baking soda and leaving it in there for a few days? Baking soda is supposed to be a good deoderiser. Hope something works nasty smells are the worst.

I know that you put a cut onion in a room which soaks up paint smells - maybe it would work? Or else try wiping it over with vanilla essence which is what I use in he fridge if there has been something dodgy in there Good luck!

Lemon is supposed to neutralise smells? Well we keep half a lemon in our fridge for that reason and it makes a difference...

I was going to suggest baking soda too, mix it into a paste with a litle water and scrub the area. Hope you get the stink out whatever you do!!!

If nothing else work try a bit of kitty litter. We had to try it once when the dear security company forgot to switch the plug back on of the Freezer after they installed the alarm and used that plug. Best thing is we were away for 2 weeks and came back..... With a freezer full of meat really really .... I think you get the idea.
