My 16 week old baby has small patches on his arms & legs which the doctor said could be eczema. I had it as a kid so i hope thats not what it is. So what products would you recommend?

Speaking from personal experience of living with Eczema my whole life, mmm a safe product i'd suggest since bub is still young ...would maybe be Aveeno oatmeal products, reasonably new and usually stocked in MOST chemists.

I used it throughout pregnancy when my eczema played up and it worked wonders (Since i couldn't lather on all my steroid creams just to be safe)!

Another is Lipobase cream, I use it on Lucas. It's a thick moisturizer and I think it works better than the Aveeno. It's 19.95 at chemists, cannot get it on prescription! The correct name is 'Lipobase Everyday Rehydrating Cream for normal, dry and sensitive skin'.

Eczema usually stems from Dry irritated skin, so if you can keep the area moisturized it helps the healing process a lot!

A few others I can think of would be Aqueous Cream (comes in huge 500gm tubs for around $6-8 in chemists ...and Sorbeline.

I highly recommend the Lipobase though, I can't go anywhere without it and its always first choice for Bubs patchy dry skin.

Hope that helps

We loooooooooove johnsons soothing naturals for Daniel. It's got rid off all of his, and whenever we see any pop up we just use it a couple of times daily and its gone within a few days. Fantastic stuff!

We have used the bathwash version of soothing naturals, smells sooo good! Haven't tried the cream but i'd imagine it works well too!

A pharmacist would be able to point you in the right direction, then you can make an informed decision ..

We don't bother with any bath stuff, we just use the intense cream instead of oil for his massage.

Oh I wish Lucas would stay still long enough for me to do baby massage! He's an active little monkey ...maybe too active!

I've had eczema for as long as I can remember, and now my baby is using the same products as I do! Our doctor has prescribed Alpha Keri Bath Oil, along with Aqueous Cream for bathing, then Lemnis Fatty Cream for moisturising and nappy cream - with a steroid cream for when she's really bad! Mikayla had eczema on her whole body at one stage, now she just has patches, sometimes it flares up a bit, but mostly we have it under control. The only other product we use is Huggies Bath for Extra Sensitive Skin on her hair, as the Aqueous Cream left it feeling yucky - it has no soap in it and she hasn't reacted to it at all. We had tried the Johnson's Naturals, Lucas Paw Paw and Weleda Calendula Oil, but the doc has said to put nothing else but the above on her until there is totally no eczema, then we can try things and see if she reacts. The plus to this is that she may grow out of it!

Hope that helps.

Oh, I also use Persil Sensitive laundy liquid and Comfort (I think) Sensitive fabric softener. I have found I can't use any powder laundry detergents and Persil Sensitive is great!
