Topic: My "not sick" DH ! Posted: 12 May 2006 at 10:41pm |
Just need to unload, as I feel bad for him, and have started to feel like there is more I could be doing but can't...
He actually really hardly *ever* gets properly sick (and he doesn't just say that to be "manly" or whatever), but was restless last night and woke up a lot, was shivering and felt clammy, and then had an upset tummy and felt kind nauseous when I got up to go to work this morning (or so I was told). I know he's been pretty tired and we've just been through a lot (and he's started biking to work instead of taking the car) with moving house, so I made him stay home to get some rest.
He has been taking the odd Panadol, having lots of water and orange juice, and I'm going to get him started on a multivit with proper winter looking like it's just around the corner.
At this stage I think it might just be fatigue / exhaustion, although part of me still thinks it might not be - and we just have to wait *sigh* He's not really running a temperature, it was about 38.3 celsius last time I checked, and he hasn't been vomiting or anything like that either. I guess the main thing that has set off the warning bells at this stage is that his appetite has gone down heaps... we ordered pizza for dinner as we usually have takeaways on Friday, and he only *just* ate ONE piece !! He normally gobbles up half the pizza LOL
Anyway, hopefully it won't get worse, and all he needs is rest (his 'symptoms' at the moment are neither here nor there, grrr).
Thanks for listening ladies !

Hey Jax,
There is actually a stomach bug going around at the moment. Basically you feel sick all the time but are not actually sick. I am pretty sure I had a small temperature with it, and I and my workmates also felt really tired and had headaches as well. I found the easiest thing was to not eat anything at all. Seemed to help lots, but of course can't do that forever!
If it is the bug, the worst of it will pass, but I got it over a week a go and still feel sick every now and then. I can't suggest anything to make him feel better to be honest. Sprite did help me a bit though

You checked his temperature, how cute!
Don't worry, guys are sooks when they are sick, but you still feel sorry for them.. if he's not feeling well, he won't eat, don't worry about it.
I second the sprite idea, but it has to be a bit flat lol.. when I had a tummy bug a month or two ago I only drank flat sprite for a day.

We had a bug like Sarah mentioned going around last week. Some people threw up, some people didn't. Wasn't bad enough to completely incompacitate (sp?) you but came with a wicked stomach ache and nausea.
Hopefully it's just one of those 24 hours bugs.

There is definitely something going around. My friends over on the North Shore having both got "slightly" sore throats & just an unwell feeling and I've got it too. Probably picked it off them when I went to visit them & their brand new Bubby Boy.
Either that or I gave it to them & they have been spreading it all around Auckland with visiting & showing off Bubs

He still claims he wasn't "sick" LOL And that's fair enough, in terms of colds or flu he didn't have any definitive symptoms - and so I reckon my diagnosis of exhaustion was spot on.
