As it's been a while, I can't acutally remember how I weaned Kiya off her bottle...

I'm just starting to get Josiah used to having less in his bottles today. I've made up some of his formula and given it to him in his cup with his breakfast (instead of water) and will give him a small bottle afterwards. I'm not sure how I'm going to stop the lunchtime bottle, probably cold turkey. I do know that the evening one will be the last to go.

What did you do?

Ella only just stopped a few weeks ago having her night time bottle.
I was a bit worried about how to stop it, but it all fell into place..

she was sick one night so collapsed in bed and I was hoping she didn't ask for milk because of the whole not wanting them to drink milk after they've vomited thing.. and she didn't.. so the next night we "forgot" to give her milk, and she didn't ask! She did ask the next night but we made up some kind of story, luckily I have this library book out about cat trees and milk bottle trees so we told her we gave the milk to the little cats hehe..

I think it was much easier taking the bottle away now than it would have been a year ago as she can understand so much.. and she will accept pretty much anything we say now :)

I must have a little 'lawyer' on my hands then because all she does is try to negotiate and talk me back into it!
We dropped the morning one by giving it to her in her 'new' bottle which was a cup with a soft teat thing. We gave it to her like a bottle- made it up the same and held her the same but she didn't like it much so she just kind of got annoyed at us and gave up asking. We still give her a night one- the plunket nurse said to just drop it over the next year sometime.
