Topic: dodgy sinuses / time off Posted: 15 January 2006 at 2:19pm |
Hey ladies,
Well I toddled off to the doctor this avo, as my ears are still a bit bung and my sinuses felt like someone had filled them with lead ! Luckily my ears are not infected, just blocked, but my sinuses are - and so he said to take the next couple of days and wrote me a certificate. However right now I am swinging between feeling good about taking care of myself because I have to think of bubs as well, but guilty because I was due to go back to work tomorrow and when I rang my team leader she didn't say anything negative, but didn't sound too thrilled. I can understand this sort of, but yeah... am feeling a *little* conflicted. I hate to leave people hanging, and even apologised to her for leaving them in the lurch ~sigh~
What do you ladies think?

I don't think you are going to be very productive with infected sinuses (pregnancy aside).
Take the time to get better as you would if there was no babe.
Don't feel guilty about it, they have to make allowances for these things. That's what sick leave and maternity leave are for!

Exactly Nikki - thats what sick leave is for, regardless of whether you are pregnant or not.

Yep, I agree. Unfortunately sometimes we can't do everything and looking after yourself is the number 1 priority. Taking time off will mean that you get better faster and are back at work quicker.

Think of it as helping others actually. In japan people always went to work sick, consequently EVREYONE got sick. it drove me crazy. I ended up saying "GO HOME! don't bring your germs tio me", so while you may feel guilty for not going to work (i got that as well), actually you are doing them a favour by recovering fully (and thus recovering more quickly!!) and not giving your germs to others in the office.

Ok...put it this way...which is more important...work being a little grouchy or you and your baby's health. It's what sick leave is for and there is no point in making yourself worse hun. Rest and take care...

Don't worry Jax. I'm the same. I feel terrible letting people down like that!

I was the same at work too. Go to work sick cos you feel you should then get sent home! Not a good look working in a hospital and giving your patients a cold or something!
