Hi everyone,

I had a phonecall last night from a friend who has this friend who has a 3mth old bubs, who is in desperate need of some adult contact.

i will give you the details

The mother is 19yrs old, her dad is in hong kong, her mum is somewhere else, and father of the baby does give a rats ass.

She lives in Botany Auckland, has no internet access or access to a car. She is starting to think she is a bad mum and is afraid to ring and ask for help because she is really scared someone will take her baby away.

Is there anyone here who lives in the surrounding areas that would be willing to chat with her via the telephone or even meet for a coffee now and then just to give her some adult company.

She is finding that anyone she has meet her age with kids is only interested in partying and she is not interested in that, all she wants to do is be a good mum and give her child a good life.

Thnks

Plunket runs a Young Mothers Group here on the shore, I am sure they would do something similar over that way. It is a good way for young mums to meet others in the same situation and plunket also brings in people to teach them things like budgeting etc.

Try giving them a call and maybe asking them to call her? I can imagine they;d be quite busy so you may need to hassle them a bit but it'd be worth it if they can set her up with some other like-minded people?

Aw I wish I was in Botany so I could talk to her.

I don't even know anyone around that area

I think a yoing mothers coffee group would be very beneficial to her as the mums that make the effort to go to things like that are usually the ones that are great support

I wish i was closer by so I could meet up with her. I lost touch with quite a few of my friends when i first became pregnant with Xanda as all they do is drink and party. So i know how it feels to be lonely, or not lonely but there a feeling of being alone with no-one to really talk to.

Aw kelly! Yay! I'm glad someone could help. I was almost at the point of asking her phone number just so I could call and see if she was alright. but then I think my sister might kill me for the toll bill

lol Good stuff. I'd ring her if I were you. She may not have the confidence to ring a stranger if she is feeling down. (Not that I know the girl...)

Thanx Kelly, I have passed on your details and had a really good chat with another of her friends last night and we are going to encourage her to call you as she really needs someone.

We have discovered that part of her problem is that everytime she settles baby down, she goes in every 5 mins and checks on him, but she touches him which wakes him up and then she gets upset because hes not sleeping well, oh well all part of her learn curve i suppose.

I really hope she contacts you, if she doesnt thanks for reaching out and extending an offer of friendship
