Topic: Being sick as a parent sucks!! Posted: 15 January 2007 at 10:39am |
Especially when you have more than 1 baby.
I've had a gastro bug since last Tuesday night. 2 visits to the A&E later I'm still running to the loo and feeling absolutely rubbish.
I had to stop taking the medication they initially gave me because it wasn't compatible with breastfeeding. Benjy flat out refused formula and wouldn't feed for 24 hours, so we all wound up more stressed and sleep deprived.
All I want to do is curl up in bed but sadly I am still on Mummy duty.
DH has been as helpful as he can be, but he still has to work as do both our parents
At times like this polygamy almost seems appealing, at least then there'd be a back up Mummy on hand to take care of everyone!

Poor you! I was thinking about that today, how when you are a parent, there are no sick days.... Big hugs!

Thanks Everyone,
Lu, I definitely second your idea!
I'm on the mend at last, after a third visit to the Dr I got antibiotics for Campylobacter. Gosh thats a horrible bug, no more chicken steaks for me!
Its a quick way to shift the leftover babyweight though!

Awww, you poor thing, must be really hard, but good to hear that you are on the mend at last. Sounds like a pretty unpleasant way to loose the babyweight!

OH MY GOD..What did you eat???. You poor thing....I dont know whats worse - A cold or a stomach problem..if its just the running to the toilet for down that end its nearly nearly bearly okay but when throwing up..thats totally sucks. Oh and having to breastfeed and do all that cause as much as kids are great and Hubbys try their best - it really is just a time when you want to shut the door and come out later! We are pretty sure Paige had food poisoning too as none of use got sick nor did anyone she was with in Auckland. And the only thing she had was some odd chicken nuggets from some takeaway store.

We are waiting for results, testing for the same for Anastasia, thank goodness I was still b/f cause she is off most of her food and milk ...... and we were almost weaned. Dr told us there has been quite a few cases around here lately, surgery in Lincoln, but its just soooo easy to contract, food and water and animals ....
Hope you are feeling better and no one else in the family gets struck down

Hooray I'm almost better!
Day 10 today so its about time!!
Poor Paige and Anastasia, it was absolutely awful for me as an adult, I hate to think what it would be like for a child.
My doc said she's seen a lot of it lately too, Kerryn, all the summer bbq's ugh!
Thanks again Everyone, its so nice being able to come here for a wee whinge!!
