Topic: Dressup party at 36 weeks pg! Posted: 23 October 2009 at 2:36pm |
We have been invited to a pirate dressup party in early december when I'll be 36 weeks pg. Great. Not so easy to dressup in one of those costumes with a big belly!!
Soooo, I've searched the net and there's some costumes I could hire, but no guarantee it'll fit over my bump.
Anyone have any ideas of how I can put a pirate costume together to work with my belly? I'm thinking I could visit a 2nd hand store and see what clothes I pick up that might work, but I'm REALLY useless with things like that and am not creative AT ALL!!
I've found this one which is most covered you can get , but know the top and pants wouldn't fit over the bump. This is a OSFA.

Umm perhaps you need to do a bit of lateral thinking. Just have a regular top in white or something with horzontial stripes. Then use some regular preggie pants/shorts that you are happy hacking the bottoms of.
Then just get a patch and hat (which isn't bump specific)

Do you have black 3/4 preggy pants?
And all you need is a stripe top, even if its an old white preggy top that you buy off TM or something and then get some paint that will go on clothes and do red stripes or something, wear a big belt (if you have one) Plus a hat and patch.
And wear a long black jacket over top as well (if you have one)
I dont think people would be expecting you to get fully dressed into the theme anyway being that your that far along, so you would probably just get away with pants and a white tshirt or something as long as you had the hat and patch.
Oh and sew a wee parrot or bird or something onto your shoulder! Easy :)
ETA - Get a sword from the $2 shop as well and you will be set! Just really go over the top on the accessories that are easy, like the sword, hat, patch, parrot etc.

Thanks girls! Yes booboo, i do have some black 3/4 pants which i'm wearing now, which would work well. Just need to get a top, and maybe a waistcost. I don't think a jacket would be doable just because it will be a lot warmer then. And I'll go to the $2 shop and source some assessories.

If you get a big piece of fabric - say red polkadot - you can tie that around your middle like a belt. You know where it ties off on one side and gets wider over towards the other side. Then team with your 3/4 pants and a white tee.
