My son is 7 1/2 yrs old and we need advice on night time toilet training.

Unfortunatley he cannot feel the sense that he needs to go wees at night so he is currently wearing pull ups only at night, he is a very deep sleeper since day one.
I have limited his fluid intake at nights, I dont know if I should see someone or do I put up with it?

Need advice please!

Have you tried getting him up for toiletting at say 10pm? Do you think he wants to get out of nighttime pull-ups or is he just being lazy? My mum tried heaps of things with my younger brother who was like that until 12yrs-ish. In the end he got lazy and just gave up... not quite sure what changed for him once he turned 12 though. (Getting him up in the middle of the night didn't work btw... he too was a deep sleeper and didn't cope too well with being woken.)

I've heard that male incontinence can run in families, did his dad/brother/uncle/cousin have difficulties also? Not sure what else sorry....

Hmmmmm, no advice but my nearly-4 year old is still in pull ups at night 2 years after day TT-ing and showing no signs of getting that sorted any time soon. At this stage I'm not too bothered but I think if she's still night wetting at 5 then I might have a chat to my GP about it.

I would go and have a chat with your GP, Just to check things are ok and he may give you some advice as well.  I have also heard male incontinence can run in families so that something you can also check out. Goodluck

My daughter was wetting the bed at the same age as your son. Don't worry too much about it...do you know any adults who wet the bed? hehe

My girl was also a very heavy sleeper and simply just wouldn't wake up...even with a wet bed. I would find out in the morning.

I just put her in pull ups and tried not to let her get down on herself about it. My husband always reassured her as he as a bed wetter as a kid. He will grow out of it on his own. She just stopped one day.
I tried insentives and stuff, but at the end of the day that frustrated her more because she couldn't help it, she just wouldn't wake up! I also didn't let her go overboard with night time drinks, but I also didn't stop them altogether. I didn't want it to be such a big deal.

Thanks for your imput/advice, Lastnight was a example : my son had wet the bed (pull up was on).
He was standing next to HIS BED crying which the noise woke me up (we are in the same room as we don't have enough room in our unit/flat) asked him what was wrong, he said he was wet, he was quite upset over it but I don't make a fuss over it either as I don't want it to be a negative issue, so I got him cleaned & changed then back to bed.
I don't feel that he is playing on it (being Lazy), I just feel something is not right or maybe it's incontinence (history on my side of the family only- my brother).
Yes I have tried to wake him previously during the night to go to the toilet - sometimes he will wake & other times he just won't wake up.
I might talk to his GP......The Pull Ups are costing me a fortune on top of the nappies for my 8mth old son.

Oow by the way I have entered my 8mth old son for "baby of the week" his name is Jayden Phillips look out for him and VOTE!!!! ........ (PLEASE)

GP sounds like a good idea... and just mention the price of Pull-Ups to one of the cloth nappy agents on here and you might find yourself not using Pull-Ups again

Sharmila, is he wetting the bed everynight or just some nights?
I know what you mean with the cost of pull-ups as I was a very hard-up, single mother student when we went through that.
I think you will probably find that the doc won't be able to do much for him as it is only the nights that is the problem, and he isn't wetting himself during the day. No harm in trying though! Have you had a look on the net for other things to try?
Have you tried an incentive? It didn't work for us, but it might be worth a try.
One of my good friends would tell my daughter how he was a bed wetter and so was his uncle and they are the brainiest in their family. Both Computer programers! That seemed to cheer DD up somewhat as she saw that it was no reflection on her as a person and their is light at the end of the tunnel.
Keep trying and good luck!
