Topic: Fabulous first birthday present? Posted: 18 June 2009 at 9:30am |
I'm looking for an awesome first birthday for my little Godson, who's got some ideas?
I gave my nephew a membership to the Zoo for his but don't want to do the same thing again, want something different.
Get those creative juices flowing ladies!

Not very creative - but im a firm believer in not giving plastic toys to others. I have just had 2 little one year olds birthday's, I gave one a cool metal truck and the other one of those wooden peg and hammer sets. They both loved their presents and they are something they will use for a while yet.
My nephew also got one of those car mats that you put in their room with the roads all over it and lots of little cars to go with it. He got a cool lamp for his room (not very exciting for him yet but suits his room)
I gave my neice one of those wooden cart things oyu push filled with wooden blocks for her 1st birthday.

I don't know how much you want to spend and if you want it to be a keepsake type thing but we have brought our son a proper tool box and had it engraved with his name - we plan on giving him a proper good quality tool each birthday until he is 21.
Just another wee concept for you to think about - we will probably do the same for our nephew as its easy to think about.
Neice we got a charm bracelet for her 1st and she gets a charm every birthday. Again will stop at 21.

That tool box is a really cool idea.
We got our boy a swing for his 1st birthday and he absolutely loved it, still does. It's one that the front eventually comes off and then the back so it will grow with him. It was from baby factory, and just attaches to a tree or whatever.

Plan Toys are a lovely range if you want wooden toys. A lot of the educational toy shops sell them.
But you know on the day the kid's going to like the paper the best

Oo looking at that website reminded me..... one of the coolest pressies my boy got was a doll. A really cool boyish doll! It has a cute boyish face and a soft body. I think it's from K-mart... it came it dumb baby clothing so my sister got the teddy clothes from Pumpkin Patch - so the doll now wears track pants, a long-sleeved tshirt, and a hoodie. It's the cutest thing and I love that my boy can be caring but it doesn't seem girly at all!
The reason that website reminded me is that we have one of those pushchairs, it was actually mine when I was little (the fabric is red and black, it's awesome). Anyway my boy absolutely loves pushing this around as well, and puts the bubba in it ever so gently.
I thought it was a cool as present for a boy, and something they're not likely to get!
Actually that website is really really good, and great prices too.... my 1 year old would love the table and chairs, the kid size broom and the lawnmower. It's very very tempting....

the wooden pegs and hammer was THE most popular gift for both our sons. they loved it. And didn't hit as many people with the hammer that i suspected they would
