I've been thinking on this lately as Hannah has just about caught me red-handed with supplies on the way to the loo a few times lately. I just can't seem to get my head around telling her that sometimes ladies bleed but I'm not bleeding

(When) did you tell yours?

Caitlyn knows ABOUT them , because my sister (who is special needs) makes this big blimming song and dance when she gets hers (because of this C calls them pedidid like my sister does) ...but she doesnt know WHAT it is ....not sure how i'll explain it if she actually asks , maybe "its special blood that only a women gets and we get it every month " er the "why do we get it "?will be the clincher

When my niece was little she asked me if I had a sore place.

I explained that I had my period and I get it every month, why? It's God's way of telling me that I'm big enough now to have a baby and the blood helps to clean my womb out to be ready for it. Does it hurt? No.

Now this may confuse her later on, especially if she gets her period in her tweens but I'll leave that to her mother to clear up

Maya knows about periods as in she knows that sometimes Mummy bleeds and it's OK, but she doesn't know why it happens. She's pretty much just picked it up from hanging around when I'm in the toilet as kids tend to want to do. She knows what pads are for and at one stage she went thru a phase of wanting to wear pantyliners like mummy lol.

The gremlins think periods are "poos". Well at least that's what Mercedes used to say if she caught me in the toilet, I guess she thinks pads are nappies, but then they haven't had to deal with that for 8 months or so...

I haven't even broached the subject with any of my kids. Conor and Nyah both know that the box of tampons in the bathroom are mine.

I am presuming that Conor now knows what they are for. We've had THAT talk with him. As for when I tell Nyah? No idea, I guess when she asks???

My girls always knew from very young that it was normal for Mummies to bleed from their vaginas at certain times and with the "open door policy" there isnt much they havent seen  IYKWIM. DD when she got hers was estatic to say the least and now Mercedes is patiently waiting for her lol

LOL at Mercedes! Funny how when we are teenagers we can't wait to get our period, until we realise what a PITA it really is!

Haha I do feel for my dad now have 3 teenage daughters at home. 3 weeks of hell he called .

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Abby walked in once when I was using a tampon, This was ages ago. She never asked what I was doing and thankfully didn't see much.

Anyway the other day Jayden came in with a tampon and asked what it was for, I said never you mind and Miss 3 pipes up in a loud voice "They go in mummies bum"!

I've told Hannah all about it. I guess I'm very open about these things!

So she knows that I use a mooncup to collect blood (and Jutey uses tampons) and that adults (anyone who is bigger than 4 feet to her!) are the ones that get their period and that it means that they are able to have babies. She gets a little confused at this point and thinks that I am having a baby... but I try and reassure her that it takes more than just bleeding to be pregnant!
