    Posted: 05 September 2007 at 1:56pm
We are trying to paint a room every 4 or 5 months cause the house was all boring cream when we moved in..

It's now the spare room's time to get a mini makeover with paint but I need help with colour ideas..

Daniel's room is orange, our room is purple.. and the spare room is DH's study but will one day be #2's bedroom so it does need to be a unisex colour..

It also needs to be a warmish colour because of the position in the house (for sun).

Any ideas??

haha I am the oposite cause I am going for the boring cream LOL well spanish white. But having said that the kids bedrooms are 'very girly pink for Brookes room and Rhyleys is blue. How about a nice light green. My friend did their daughters room a really nice colour like that before she was born and i did really like it and it went with the rest of the house (oh its that boring cream again lol) I can find the colour out if you want me to.

Just a word of warning if going with green. We have just painted all our bedrooms as they were a light green colour and all our bedrooms were so cold! Green is a very cold colour so if it doesn't get much sun, I would be in inclined to go with a warmer colour!

Sorry AnnC no offence to your suggestion though!

I was thinking green as well - lime but not bright - and thought about the coolness so changed to yellow instead.

There's always yellow. I guess you've got to be careful with yellow, though, you don't want it looking

I thought maybe brown aswell? Again, not like a poopy brown, but a yummy one LOL (there are SO many shades out there!) and then you can accent the room with pink or blue accessories (depending on what the next one is ). I LOVE the pink/brown and blue/brown combinations.

No offence taken I don't actually like green myself but this colour my friend did was quiet nice and more of a soft tone, not cold feeling at all infact warmer feeling than anything.

The room does get sun, just not as much as Daniel's bedroom. That room is soooo warm especially with the orange colour

I had thought of green.. I wouldn't mind knowing what colour your friend painted her room though AnnC

I love lime! The gremlins furniture is done in Resene Shocking (pink) and Dizzy Lizzy (lime) and it is gorgeous, and they are getting lime curtains to match. Not sure if I'd be brave enough to do a whole room in it, but maybe a feature wall with boring cream on the other walls?
My girls rooms are boring double spanish white too.

It's just me with my house but I hate cream.. I don't mind it in other peoples homes but in my own home I hate it! Doesn't match my personality one lil bit or DH's (thank god).

DH likes the colour of the bum genius nappies, the grasshopper colour. I wonder if I could get away with doing it a similar tone to that??

We have a grey feature wall in the lounge (called Thomas tallis) to soften the lime green (called overtone) with cobalt blue curtains, inspired by the Heinz formula tins

We've got feature wall in the laundry in Resene 'jigsaw'. It's a really cool green - sort of like the grasshopper nappy

At one of my old houses, we painted the entire bathroom in a pale lime green - a Taubmans colour, the name I can't remember at the moment. It was just soooo warm and stylish with the white shower, vanity and toilet. Made it bright and cheery and seem bigger than it was.
