I'm glad yellow one. In reality what would have been their hopes of having an opportunity to own their own home? With 6 young children it is hard. Also it would take them a bazzilion years to pay of a mortgage of that size. Though I always wish that both teams could WIN!!. I mean really those would have to be the dearest houses in Hawera!.  Now of course people are going to scold and hate if anyone outside of the blue or yellow team bidded for the houses so it is easy to see why the auctions would seem rigged, selling the houses below market value. No one wants to see anyone else but the teams living in their dream homes. At the end of the day they both got their homes. I was gunning for the yellow team as I can understand their situation. The public voted and thats the end of that!!

Well to put a positive spin on this thread.....

I think the show is great!

At the end of the day, it gives two families the opportunity to design, build and own their own DREAM HOME! How can that be a bad thing?

Yes, only one family can win, but the other team got given a 70k deposit and whole truckload of prizes and then the opportunity to buy the house well below reserve.

I liked the yellow house better but I voted for the blue team becasue I liked their team.

At the end of the day I think it is a great show, it is changing the lives of two families in such a huge way and giving them a life they otherwise would probably never have been able to afford.

I tell you waht would have made me really mad (which thankfuly didn't happen), was if the yellow team had won the energy wise prize. Come on, they had a spa pool! Not too energy wise if you ask me

I love the show because it gives the couples an opportunity they would never have got themselves - BUT I do think its so badly rigged.

I personally liked the outside of the yellows better and the inside of the blues - I thought both couples were nice but really liked the blues.

Wouldnt it have been nice if the blues won the Truck rather than the winner winning the truck as well!

i prefered blue and voted for blue only thing i did prefer of yellows was the landscaping but with 6kids i would of liked to have seen some sort of rail around the deck a bigger child falling off not so bad but a toddler maybe different story.
yeah the scullery semed like a good idea but there was no ventilation which wouldnt be a great thing if its gonna be for dirty dishes etc

i think the judges had already picked yellow from the start. i was talking to mum about it and that i thought blues was much better regarding the lounge she thought so too, then she said oh but yellow arnt as well off as the blue team, there is always a less furtunite(sp) team on that program.
even though it is suppose to be a comp as to who does a better looking room/house.

I found the block wall in the hallway of the yellow house an interesting choice with 6 kids running around....how many grazed arms and elbows are they going to get.

I didnt think that either of the gardens / decks were particulary child friendly either.

I think that from the start they were playing the "yellow team as under-dogs" and it was all a bit wo-is-me IYKWIM, with the constant reference to 6 kids and the constant crying.....yes I know that some people are less fortunate in life than others, but if you make the choice to have 6 children, then you surely make the choice to sacrifice other things. I think the blue team were at least trying really hard to build a life - with her working from home doing childminding and him having a good job (rather than a hobby-job like coaching basketball!!)

Sorry - it really bugged me...can you tell!!!!

Rant over...

I'm a yellow fan cos they had lots of kids and the lowest ability to actually buy their house in the auction. I also liked their house better, but that's just my opinion!

I just can't believe I got addicted to the program and had to watch it every Monday. How sad is that? At least I've stopped my Shorty addiction

It was so rigged, I wanted the blue team to win. But knew from the beginning they NEVER would as who could compete against a family with 6 children who are on one income and would never be able to afford a house.

Poor blue team they lost because they have savings and only 2 kids and can afford a mortage.

Oh well hopefully next season is fair.! and equal.

The judges had it in for the blue team so unfair!!!

I LOVE Mitre 10 dream home!!!

DH and I always watch it each year and always nudge eachother "we could do that in our house" LOL I'm still waiting....

I prefered the Blue house but it was obvious the Yellows were going to win - they have the sympathy vote (JMHO no offence meant) but each team worked just as hard as the other and if they're designs weren't able to be completed in a weekend then the Architect shouldn't have put forward those plans!
