Who's had it? It's basically Tendonitis in the wrist with is common in mothers due to lifting babies.
I had it in my right wrist last year, wore a splint for 8 weeks which didn't work and ended up getting a steroid injection to fix it.
Now I've got it in my left wrist. I tried getting to doc just to do the steroid injection but I have to do the whole immobilisation thing first. *sigh*
I'm procrastinating about getting the splint done again as it's pretty much like wearing a cast for 6 weeks and I lost all strength in my arm from it.
I'm just interested in other peoples experiences with it?
I had it too as had really bad RSI in my wrists when pregnant and that continued on into DeQuervins.
My Dr wouldn't do the steriod injection on me either as wanted to splint me so I went to a physio who gave me thumb exercises to do and within two weeks it was fine and have had no probs since.
Mine was so bad that on occasiosn I nearly dropped DS while trying to pick him up when he was little.
I had it too after having Ollie. I had it in my right wrist also. My dr suspected it and referred me to an Orthapedic surgeon. She gave me exercises and while it got better it was still annoying me. I went back and had the steroid injection too.
There were a couple of times when Ollie was really young that I almost dropped him because of the pain. I found mine started to get better when I went back to work. Although it never went away till I had the steriod injection.
Trish - I'd say just go for the injection if the splint didn't work last time.
The doc gave me some anti-inflamms that I'm taking so I'm hoping that will help.
I might just go back to the physio I went to last time and talk to him. Then he might just refer me to a doctor who'll do the injection. I think the last time he referred me to get a splint cos I was BFing so assumed I wouldn't want the steroid.
Most of the time during the day I don't aggravate it, but it's at night and first thing in the morning that it's a killer.
im curious as to what this is. I get very sore between my wrist and elbow. end up in tears sometimes. Have to sleep with a wheatbag. Could this be what it is? Sorry to intrude on your topic.
I had it in my right wrist (didnt know it was called that) from the computer mouse I was in a brace for 5 months!!! couldnt even squeese the toothpaste tube! was on anti inflamitories for the hole time and it took a good year before I could really use it without pain again...........I tried acupuncture and every other thing out there......the one thing I did try that worked and made sense was the osteopath who said that the injury can occur if your neck or part of your upper back is out and the muscles and nerves etc arent as strong and can get prone to injury etc so I had my neck and back worked on and it came right - wished I had known that at the start! now if I get twinges again I go to the osteo who works on my neck etc and it comes right! - just another train of thought
