Hi all

Just a little tip we'd like to share with you. If your kettle clicks on and off anywhere from 3 to 7 times whilst TRYING to boil...

Empty the kettle
Pour white vinegar so its one inch deep.
Boil the vinegar. Yes I said boil the vinegar.
Rinse, fill with water and boil and pour out the water.

Your kettle should now have less deposits on the bottom and should only click once - when it's finished.

If your kettle still isn't working properly then it could be a different problem. Go see a Kettle Doctor.

All right, Chovynz, I am doing this RIGHT NOW! I should post Before and After photos, but then you would all know how icky the bottom of my kettle has gotten (and nobody would ever drink a cup of tea at my house again).

So I looked in the cupboard for the vinegar, and found:

  • Malt Vinegar
  • Cider Vinegar
  • Italian Balsamic Vinegar
  • Italian Red Wine Vinegar
  • Rice Vinegar
  • White Vinegar (which is primarily used for mopping the kitchen floor in my house, not cooking!)

I kid you not! We have SIX kinds of vinegar in my pantry! LOL

lol Katherine - sounds like my pantry!! Another tip - don't take a wiff of the vinegar as its boiling - unless you really want to clear the nose, hehe, its powerful stuff!

I have to confess, it didn't take any of the residue off the bottom after all. And now my house smells like vinegar. Not the worst smell in the world... But certainly clears out the nostrils, like hailstones said! LOL. Maybe I should just buy a new kettle anyway...

How old are the deposits? You might like to try it again another or 2 times.
