Topic: PP Bleeding Query - maybe TMI Posted: 21 March 2007 at 3:01pm |
OK so this is probably TMI but I am really getting sick of the PP bleeding stopping and starting.
After I had Josh I had the usually its gushing out need 2 pads on every hour just to contain it all, that lasted a day and then it settled right down and then at day 8 it had dissapeared (I was really happy). Day 20 it came back with a vengeance and as I was past the 2 weeks I started using tampons (I hate pads) and that was fine for 3 days then dissapeared again. Now 5 weeks on every morning I bleed like mad (think 1st day of AF) and then from lunchtime there is nothing (I have a liner on to catch anything). Has anyone else had crazy PP Bleeding (I have gotten to the stage of wanting to resume special cuddles with DH but with this crazy bleeding i'm not too sure). I saw my MW today and completely forgot about it to ask her what she thought.

I'd check with your m/w. Mine continued on and was reasonably heavy to 5 weeks PP which concerned my m/w till all of a sudden I passed a huge lump of membranes and then it stopped immediately.
I'd give your m/w a quick call and run it by her...

They dont mention this in the books do they?!?! Thanks ladies - I know its borderline TMI (especially for me at the moment) - but at least I can be prepared for what its "really" like, when I do get there!

I was similar to Emma although I bled on and off for around 8 weeks then "passed" something which I had no idea what is was and it freaked me out but my midwife said it was an old blood clot. I had no more bleeding after that!

Becks I had mine for 5 weeks, it stopped and started too and mw was not concerned. I think PP bleeding is common to 6 weeks, give or take some, so yours sounds pretty normal. I wonder if lying down all night stores it up somehow to let it out in the morning.
Special cuddles and strenuous excercise can set it off in patches if you're not quite done too. And if you try nowish (which I probably would do if I were in your position, ie bleeding on and off but wanting to) you may find that you're still a bit tender. Still bleeding is linked to that but I'm not really sure how.

Mine carried on and on ...got similar to yours nearer the end though, with nothing for a day or longer, then a whole lot. I was getting to the point of thinking of going to the doc, when it stopped.

Mine lasted about 3 weeks or so. It had almost gone down to nothing when I took a nice long bath and that got rid of it for good.
My mum on the other hand had it for weeks on end and it came and went.
Just mention to your m/w but it's prob quite normal like everyone said.
