Thanks for all the positive comments. Even though I was totally set on this for while, I must still admit that it is nice to hear good stuff considering it's too late to change it now!!! =

does the symbol mean anything?
I really want to get one done. I want something that will represent my little girl
I was going to get an oriental lilly, but she's a LILLY (short for Lillian - My mum's middle name) not a LILY like the flower.

I do like it. I want to get the boys names and a set of footprints on me somewhere - one day.

Love it!!
They are def addictive. I have one on my lower back too, which I didnt actually think hurt too bad. I must have nerves close to the skin though cos everytime he hit certain spot my legs would swing out!!! I fell asleep while he was colouring.
My second one is on the the inside of my ankle and that one did hurt quite a bit. I do want another one, just not sure what or where at this stage. DH isnt too happy about that (he doesnt really like them) but my body, my rules!!!!

No it doesn't. I've just known for a while I wanted something on my lower back (or should we say I wanted a tramp stamp!! ). Initially I was thinking of paw prints - I think the reason on those would be obvious. Trawling through the net though, I couldn't find a single thing I liked and kept being drawn back those sort of designs.
The final one is one I got off a tattoo site and just made a couple of small modifications. The orginal had a couple of extra "flicks" off the bottom I didn't like a dot right in the middle.
I also figured it was one that I could incorporate children's names into later on easy enough.
I've been carrying around the final design until I was 100% sure that was it. I'm so stoked with it!!!
Orginally I had also taken off the top flicks and bottom ones but the tattooist suggested putting them back in and I'm glad I listened to him - he was so right!

One thing - I do think it is so important to be 100% sure of what you want before you get it. Better to spend months deciding that spending 10 times as much taking it off as it cost to put it on!
I'm sure you will find something that fits perfectly at the right time!

It's neat the first thing I saw when I looked at it was an 'M' but you obviously didn't have that in mind from your previous posts!!!
I badly want one too... but I'm the biggest chicken ever and the only way I'd be able to get one was if the situation turned out the way it did for you, Paws, and get it done there and then, otherwise I'd spend all my time deciding that I didn't want to go through with it! Might have a chat with Kels I'm sure she'll talk me into it!

That was the good thing with them doing it then and there, I didn't have time to over-prepare for it! Of curse the bad thing is we didn't really have the money for it so I need to haul butt and put stuff on TM to re-coup the money! (I'm so bad!!!!!)
And no I hadn't intended for there to be an "M" there but now that you mention it....cooooooool!

can I ask how much?
I'm thinking I'd like it done for my birthday next month (DHs pressie to me - I doubt he'll agree with it though even though he's got 3! lol)
and more importantly
did it hurt more than the few days after the C-Section? Strange question - but I know what that feels like and I know I can handle that (just!!!!)
Is it ok to take pain killers before you get it done? or is that bad tattoo ettiquette (if there's such a thing?!?!?)
ok it's very late and I'm rambling - nighty night

I know it depends on the tattooist, the one I see doesn't like you to take pain killers before because they can thin the blood as well as mask any signs of infection. That said if you go to a good tattooist you won't have to worry about infection of course! I can't compare it to a c-section, but once it's done it's done and doesn't really "hurt" - it might just be a little tender for a few days while the skin heals over.

It hurt while it was being done and was a little tender for a couple of hours after. After that it's just the whole scabby healing feeling. But of course you can't itch or pick!!!!
Mine cost $160.00. I did get a cheaper quote from one place but I wasn't comfortable using them! Good idea to shop around be be comfortable with the person who will permanetly ink your body!
