Topic: Something new for me Posted: 18 June 2007 at 11:42pm |
I just placed my very 1st bid on Trade-me, was exciting but hopefully not going to lead to *another* online addiction

I love to bid in the beginning and hubby said he was going to limit time to it from his server side if I wasnt carefully. (big joke)
But after a month I did calm down.
Enjoy your bidding.

Be careful - its very easy to get hooked on TM! I think quite a few ladies on here can testify to that (see thread called Rampant Consumerism )

Its not finished as yet, goes till tomorrow but someone else has auto bid on so I will see what happens. Its for a divan bed with 6 drawers, exactly what I'm looking for & cant seem to find new - without paying heaps

Not that I do this often but there is a secret to bidding succesfully. If you can wait, hold off until the last few minutes (3 min) before the auction ends and then place your autobid. It gives people less time to see that they have been out bid and therefore come on and push the price up more.
And once you have placed your autobid.....WALK AWAY....if you dont get it, you werent meant to....that is harder!

Only prob with that, I have just read that if there is a bid in the last 2mins of auction, it is automatically extended, so will just have to watch that it doesn't go over what I want to pay (not sure what that is yet )

you are right about the auto extend. Thats why you should bid at 3 min and then hope like hell noone else bids.....usually some bas****d does in the final seconds and then the AGONY begins.
the other thing is to ask for a buy now and if it looks resaonable just grab it then.

Just so you know, if there are already bids the seller can't put a buy now on.

I thought as long as the reserve isn't met then they could add a buy now with bids on it.
