Topic: Who wants my neighbours Posted: 30 June 2007 at 11:23pm |
We have students next door to us. Loud abnoxius drunk students who think that because they are drinking they can be loud and noisy. Our street isn't a student street its a family street, the main reason why we brought here.
So tonight I went over and asked them to be a bit quieter (Andrew doesn't need to hear what the are saying) and next time they want to have a party be nice and tell us so we can get the kids into bed early (I spoke to I think a tenant as I asked to speak to one). Next thing I have mouthy drunk girls telling me if I don't like it move. I didn't say it but I wanted to say: Look here girly I OWN my house you don't even live here so F**K OFF, but I didn't (such control on my part), but what I did say was we know your landlord (she was DH's teacher at high school) and I will contact them if the parties and noise continues.
I can handle parties when we are given notice so we can sort the kids out, but what I hate is the drunk girl screaming at the top of her voice she loves everyone and the drunk boy that yells at the top of his voice WHO'S YOUR DADDY.
So who wants them? they are FREE, I am determined to get rid of them as I have told them countless times we have children, this isn't a student street, as the past tenants also told us when they were having a party as they knew we had children. I would hate to think what the neighbours across the road think of the noise, i know the neighbours at the back don't like it as they usually have to clean up the bottle mess in the morning.

I would call noise control and be on the phone first thing Monday to the landlord to at least give them a warning. You held such restraint. I would have gone over and gone psycho!!!! Im the same as you. A bit of warning would be nice, but after those smart comments noway would I condone anything from them!!!

I figured if I was calm and nice it would look good on my part. Believe me I would usually go nuts - sometimes I feel sorry for the people on the other end of the phone taht have to deal with my going nuts . Now the stereo is going (its not that loud) but I do hear cars so i'm hoping they are getting ready to go to town. FINGERS CROSSED.

Remember, if you get no joy fromt he landlord and things aren't sorted, then you start calling the landlord at the time the parties are noisily happening - that gets a reaction!
I tell you , there is something to be said for living on a main road, both main roads I have lived on have been 100 times quieter than any so called quiet family suburban street i have lived in!

I hope you managed to get some sleep Becks, but I agree - call Noise Control and get their stereos confiscated! Especially if it's going on all the time. You don't have to put up with it. And have a word with the landlord too.

It was them leaving. I hopped into bed just after midnight and as I was falling asleep I heard guys down the road yelling so that kept me awake. I did watch the boats instead, only to fall asleep just before the finish.

We had neighbours a bit like that - they all worked for a courier company and would come and go really early in the morning- like 4am. It wouldnt have been so bad but their drive was right next to our bedroom window and they would leave the big deisel van parked in the drive idoling whilst they made lots of noise getting in and out of the house!
They had 3 weekends worth of late night drunken parties, and when at 3.30am one night we finally got sick of it, DH yelled over the fence at them to quieten down....(admitedly he was a bit peeved off by this stage).... we then had them banging on our front door threatening to kill us and smack his head in. We called 111 who said there was nothing they could do unless they actually came onto / into our property..... we both spent the rest of that night locked in the spare room - pretty terrified!! We were also really scared to tell the landlord (as he is overseas, and its a pretty useless Property Mgr that looks after the place) as we thought there might be retaliation from the tenants....so basically we were really scared of them for about the next month - but they moved out on there own. (After many late night domestics!)
So - Although I sympathise completely with the noise aspect....at least they are only students, and less likely to be threatening!
