Topic: ok, is this normal? Posted: 07 March 2006 at 10:39pm |
I was just writing to Becs about what miss Ayja is up to now, when i suddenly thought, "hang on, is this normal for a 9 month old!?"
this is what i wrote to her...
******Ayja is a real terror, but is also the cutest little munchkin ever. she gets into everything, walking along couch and messes up paris's games - will wait till perfectionsit paris has all the little people or whatever set up just so and go and crawl through , pulling things over, sitting on them and dribbling on them, eating them, then goes on her merry way - it's like a mini tornado!
Poor paris can't even do things on the coffee table - which used to be unreachable for ayja, but now is not. so now the only place for peace is in her room in the cubby house with the door closed. She usually still ends up with Ayja standing at the door peeking over.
Our rubbish is not safe, our shoes are not safe, she likes to pick up shoes and lick them!! ick! she rips up magazines (that you've seen) pulls things over on herself, is constantly falling over, or being pushed by her adoring sister, and she also has to be in the highchair occupied with something while we eat otherwise she comes and sticks her hands in our plates, no matter how hard we try to get away from her - she climbs up to paris's little table and plunges hands in everything, pulls her drink, or climbs the back of the paris's chair to pull her hair or suck on her clothes!!! she is hell on wheels!
oh yeah, today - i went into the room just in time to find ayja had climbed onto the old bouncer, and was standing up in it!!!! just bouncing away back and forth holding the frame. i was so sure she would face dive into the carpet before i got to her, but luckily she didn't!
I need eyes in my BUM.. and then some.
lol
for the most part it's pretty fun though.******
ok, so now having read that novel - tell me - is this what all other kiddies are up to? having had a sit-still-and-be-quiet first child, who never crawled, never got into stuff (ooh the occasional cd off the rack at 15 months) i really had no idea what i was in for... i mean surely it wouldn't be too bad? lolol
she is not nasty - she's a perfectly happy silly fun-to-be-with kind of child - she's just super active compared to what i am used to.
Normal???

She sounds very normal to me as my now 5 yr old was exactly the same I know what you mean about eyes in ur bum The good news is that they grow out of it.My daughter now is great and loves playing by herself, although she will still annoy big sis now and again so I am still having to be a referee and break up fights but not as much as when they were younger.Good Luck

I think it must be something in the air or food. She sounds exactly like Abby and I thought girls were supposed to be easier than boys!!

Sounds normal to me too Janine - Maya was climbing in and out of the toybox at 7 1/2 mths, and God knows what else.
Have fun! It does get easier as they get older and easier to bribe!

Josiah's just the same, Janine, except he can't climb up on things as he's so little. Doesn't stop him trying! His favourite place is Kiya's room... so now she keeps her door shut all the time. Josiah's favourite activity is pulling Kiya's hair, or smacking her in the face (while she sits in reach saying "gentle, gentle" ) and he laughs and laughs!

LOL Janine - did she stay there? I remember Maya climbing out the back of one of those car trolleys they have at PakNSave, I didn't even notice until some guy pointed out that she was heading for the floor headfirst!
