My mum would only have to reach into the drawer where she kept the wooden spoon and I would burst into tears and promise to reform my wicked ways / make penance immediately LOL

My mum used to smack bottoms. I remember wedging myself under things on my back so she couldn't get at my bum and screaming at the top of my lungs.

My mum went through quite a few wooden spoons on my backside, one day she hit me with the best wooden spoon(years old, so the handle was all nicely worn down and in the right shape apparently) and well it broke and then I got in trouble for breaking the wooden spoon. It wasn't even my fault!!

Ha ha, my sister used to have a wooden spoon with a smiley face on one side and a sad face with tears on the other. My nephew always laughed at her when she tried to smack him with it. Then she broke it on him one day and that was the end of the wooden spoon.
