a pocket nappy without the inserts (of course) as a swim nappy?

I am taking DS to swimming lessons for the first time today and was wondering if any of you cloth users have used a pocket nappy as a swim nappy and if so how did it work?

I really don't want to have to shell out for the disposable ones and I have not got around to buying me a proper swim cloth nappy as yet.

so long as it was tight enough around the legs, why not. otherwise baby factory has real nappies brand swimmers quite cheap or most pools sell the individual swim nappies (i think).

If you are going to a public pool they normally have a rule that you must use the little swimmers nappies.

In saying that though I didn't know that til the end of the year and I was just using a swimming nappy I got from baby factory (who have them on sale at the moment for around $6).

That's a good idea Kristy! I hadn't thought of using a pocket without the inserts, I'm sure it would work! It's only to keep #2's in if they happen to do one. We just use either the real nappies one, or one I got off Trademe. Our public pool sells the disposable ones individually too but I haven't needed to use one

You can use them but I dunno if I'd want to have wet fleece on my butt swimming. We got daniel a monkey doodlez swim nappy 2 years ago which still fits him

Yeah as a one off it's probably ok. I second getting a monkey doodlez that's what we have and they fit them for so long.

The pool we go to is a public one and it just says they need to be in a proper swim nappy, doesn't specify that it has to be disposable.

Yup have heard of that. Fine one off, but you probably wouldnt want to use a nice one just incase the chlorine affects the PUL.

We just go to a public pool and they are fine with cloth swim nappies (well i havent been told off yet lol)

We have the Monkey Doodlez swim nappy for Sam as well and love it. It has been going since she was 6 months old and still fits and looks like new.

We've done it in rivers etc but not in chlorine as I don't want to ruin our nappies (we have BG so they're expensive to replace).

I would buy a proper swim nappy, they're pretty cheap. But for a one off I think it would be fine (they hold poos in well btw.)
