Blake goes to be pretty much at or around 7 every night. He generally sleeps from then to 7amish with 2 feeds throughout that time. He will if at home go down for three 45 min "cat"naps or will generally crash out if out in the car ..all day!!!

Is this good or should he be sleeping longer during the day. The reason I ask is because I get him up when we are at home and he is soooooo grumpy like he is still tired. Im just wondering what other bubs do???

I try to go to a routine of feed at 6am,9,12,3,6pm and sleeps 10am 1pm and 4pm and then bed 7. as this fits in with Paiges school drop offs and pick ups. Obviously he is missing a daytime feed so is still waking but not sure how to change that.

???

Im no expert or anything but from what I gather and my experience at that age babies are generally only up for an hour to two hours at the very most a time. i know Addison is still only up for a max of 2 hours at 5 months. i would also try doing a later feed, say around 9pm and see how that goes. With both my two we have been on 4 hourly feeding at 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm 10pm etc... then they slowly dropped the 2am feed and then brought back the 10pm one to 8pm. Now she is in bed at 8pm every night and sometimes wakes for a feed around 3am but normally doesnt wake till about 6am then is back in bed till 7am at least. She sleeps for anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours during the day but I put her down even if she is awake after being up for about 1.5 to 2 hours. hope that all makes sense and is of any help.

I was going to say the same thing as Robyn. Amelia is nearly 5 months and is up for 2 hours max between feeds.

Apparently babies sleep cycle is 45 mins, so if you are getting him up after that amount of sleep, you could be interrupting his sleep. I know Amelia used to do the same thing and originally I was getting her up, but then found after maybe a bit of a grizzle and being awake for just a wee while, she would actually go back to sleep. If he's not full on crying or due for a feed, I'd try leaving him for a bit to see if he goes back to sleep.

Ditto exactly what luna said! Try leaving him for a little while to resettle after 45 minutes, and see what happens. Does he go to bed awake normally? Cos if he does you may find he resettles easily if you dont go in at all.

He usually wakes up and screams? And do you mean wake him up for a feed at about 9pm?? As I cant keep him awake til then he gets so overtired and loses the plot???

And as for four hourly feeding ...even with starting on solids he still only feeds every 3 hours :o( Im kind of hoping this will change soon??????

Yep i would wake him not keep him up and feed him around 9ish. We work on 4 hourly but Im not strict on it, if she is really hungry at 3 hours then I will feed her but its just a rough guide and means i know where i am during the day and when she will sleep. If he doesnt go down awake and you normally put him to bed only when he is asleep that is something I would definately work on because it can make a huge difference, well it has for us.
Oh and i totally agree with the 45 minute sleep thing, if addison wakes after about 45 mins and I leave her 9/10 times she goes back to sleep.
