Daniel has caught my cold and is really stuffed up because of it. How can we help him breathe easier? He can't breathe through his nose at all..

I've sat in the bathroom with the shower running for ages and this did work, for all of like 10 mins.. and I got some of that karvol stuff which smells funky and clears the nose. It's on a piece of paper towel and is sitting in his room.. it cleared my nose a lil but doesn't seem to help him.

Any other suggestions?

You could try a drop of cooled boiled water up the nose which should make him sneeze. This should help clear his sinuses temporarily.

to Daniel, it is miserable having a sick baby

Saline drops, plain simple saline - buy the stuff in the vial from the chemist in the first aid part (the palms chemist here in palmy should still be open) put a couple of drops in each nostril, will make his boogers run out easily - ie when he sneezes a few times they'l come out, but then it helps to dry out the nose, prob don't use it much more than about 4 times a day, but works well.

good luck.

Yeah I second saline we have used it a few time with Spencer and it always works a treat. I didn't think karvol was recommended till they were much older.

It says on the packet for karvol to put the solution stuff on a cloth or something and put it near the cot so that its not touching their skin but they can smell the stuff (thats for 3-6month olds)

And the drops worked a treat. Still didn't sleep well though.. I feel like a zombie!

Thats handy to know. DH went and got the saline stuff the first week Spencer was home and the way he said about the Karvol I thought they couldn't have it till 12 months or something.

Sorry you didn't get any sleep again, hopefully he will feel and sleep better again soon
