We've just about completed two weeks of having home help 47.5hrs/wk (I posted an x-ray of my fractured foot on a thread about crutches) and at first I reeeeeally didn't like the home help lady (Lorna) that we got "lumped with". But... since I didn't really want to change after a week because it had taken all that time to settle Briona's anxiety about someone else being here (and me not leaving I think), we talked our concerns over with Lorna, asked her to change a few things she was doing, and whaddya know, she's actually quick to change! I'm so relieved!

I'm getting used to things now. I can actually do things with the kids now, in the first week all I could think about was what I *couldn't do*, my second week was a lot more proactive. And I'm getting on so much better with Lorna, instead of constantly feeling like she was cramping my personal space lol. And she's pretty handy in the kitchen, I found on Thursday, when we whipped up a pie, lasagne, etc to last us through the long weekend. I was finally pleased to not have someone too young at that point lol

And my foot's feeling heaps better too. The bruising looks worse, I can see it on and at the base of some of my toes but it doesn't hurt. I have walked a few steps without the crutches, it's heaps slower but it feels like I'm getting there! So I can put all my weight on that foot, but not for too many steps at a time or it gets a real bruised soreness.

16 days til my home help is reviewed (continued/cancelled/shortened hours - I'm hoping for shortened hours at that point to "wean" us off. She can keep doing the housework and I'll be the full-time Mum properly again!) and 31 days til the cast is off.

Yay Teresa! Glad you managed to sort things with Lorna!

When I did my back I had about 6 different carers coz they kept chopping and changing them. Poor Maya didn't know what was going on.

Teresa thats great you were able sort things out with her.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
