i went to fill our script finally - incase we decided to start again next month (script written in april!) and was told that it has been deleted and there is NO replacement. I use phenate (aka clomid) and the chemist rang around and struggled to find enough to fill my script...did it but still...
then he rang FA just in case and was told that yes it has been deleted and yes there is no replacement...

soooo question is WTF??? really - what is being used now - anyone on a new script able to tell me???? and do we have to change clomid pill popppers to something new LOL!

really???? That seems incredibly strange for a drug which is really successful for a lot of people.....let us know if you find out anything more.
I always got given phenate too. I have a pack which expires July of this year if anyone is stuck for some, just let me know.

I was given phenate about a month ago too, and the chemist didn't mention anything, but my gynae asked a couple of weeks later when I saw him if I had been able to get it, as there is a shortage at the moment. I can understand if there is a shortage (although why I don't know). But it seems very strange if it has been deleted. I hope not, I only have this cycle left, then I will need to get more (although I wont coz I'll be UTD!!!! )

gosh I hope they get a replacement or better stocks in. There'd be nothing more frustrating than not being able to get clomid when you need it.

A friend of mine has a batch that she got nearly 18 months ago, and must be the same batch cos thats July 2010 too!!
What happens in July when they expire? Does anyone who still has any then have to discard them and get replacements, or a whole new script?? (assuming its still available!)

I went to a specialist yesterday and she said there hasnt been any notification from the drug companies that it is being deleted so perhaps its a shortage?
I must take my script in tomorrow then...the local chemist has some...yay for small towns (sometimes |

OMG it IS true....went to fill my 3 month script and as my pharmacist didnt have enough he rang to find some to be told it has been deleted with no replacement although apparently Pharmac are working on one. Luckily for me he was able to ring around some other local pharmacies and I have enough for my 3 month script so Im hoping they figure out what they are doing before that runs out |

I went to see my FS yesterday and he's prescribed Clomid for me too. He said it's not been deleted, they're just changing suppliers in NZ, from Pharmac to another company. So until the new contracts are finalised there will be a shortage. BUT Seraphene (same drug, different name) will be available from 1 July to tide us all over in the meantime.
 Hope this makes sense!? |

I googled and found too that Clomid is being replaced by Seraphene on 1st July - so I guess all the pharmacys are reducing stock so they can get the subsidies on the new product without having heaps of the old clomid left over...
