I seem to be losing weight at a ridiculously fast rate and I am not doing anything different, I am eating as I normally would and have not been doing any exercise apart from running around after DD (11 months)

Approx 4 weeks ago I was 57 - 58 kgs and I have just weighed myself and I am 55.1 my clothes have gotten very loose and I have had a few comments along the lines of "you are wasting away" I have always aimed to be around 55kgs but never been able to attain it, even with a strict diet & exercise.

I am starting to worry that there is an underlying cause and maybe I should go to the doctor. Trust me, I know I would normally love to be dropping the kilos but this is just so unexplained and abnormal for me. Could it be my body changing after having a baby? I stopped BF when DD was approx 6 months.

Jake turned 1 and I lost 6 kgs made me quite underweight since I wasn't carrying anything extra. It was weird but all my bloods came back fine and everything. Same thing happened to my of my friends.

Thanks for the reply Babe, it has put my mind at ease a little and I think I might just go see my doc to get some bloods etc. done.

FWIW Aimee I think you are looking gorgeous!!! I lost 14kg on my pre preg weight. Partly it was breastfeeding but for me partly I think it was not going back on the pill - could that be something to do with it? I think hormones play a big part in weight issues.

That happened to me earlier this year too, I dropped to about 55kgs for no reason. Doctor thought it was my thyroid so he had bloods done and they showed nothing! I thought it was because Jackson was a bit more active and I was moving around a bit more. Or perhaps a bit of stress.

The same thing happened to me in the last few months but I put it down to running around after a toddler (instead of working at a desk all day), finishing breastfeeding, and yes, hormones - I was reading about the role hormones play in hunger recently, and I think it's the case for me - I think that since I've had an increase of oestrogen (perhaps?) it's regulated my hunger, in the way that going on the pill makes my appetite worse... if I'm making any sense?

If I was you I'd wait another month and see if the weight loss levels off or not - my friend was losing weight rapidly and she discovered she was coeliac, so it's also possible there could be some other underlying problem, but considering the changes in your body due to pregnancy, I'd point the finger at that first ....

Aww thanks Rachel - and I have not gone back on the pill, was off it for at least a year before Heidi came along though. I was a bit of a fatty when I was on the pill to be honest LOL! and I refuse to go back on it ever again.

My weight was always around 60kgs, and then 72kgs at 38 weeks when Heidi was born and I lost 10 of that in the first few months, but then just sat at 61 for ages and now its just falling off, think hormones could be playing a big part as my cycle is regular for the first time in my life and also the activity of chasing a mobile baby around.

Julia I do not think I am UTD would love to be though

Could you have a hyperactive thyroid? If you are still worried your GP can do some bloods to check for you. But running around after a bubs could also be the cause!

Oooo if it's just a "normal" thing then I hope it happens to me

Will be thinking of you. If you are worried I think you should go to your GP, can't hurt to get some bloods done and get checked over. Just to be sure.
