Topic: Maya DOESNT have chicken pox after all! Posted: 16 August 2007 at 4:00pm |
The swabs the doctor took on Saturday night came back today and it is some random strain of influenza. My GP says it's really bizarre coz this particular strain of influenze doesn't normally cause blisters, but it just goes to show that my kids aren't normal. If it's weird and wonderful and rare and obscure you can guarantee they'll get it. Chicken pox would be far too simple *rolls eyes*
But the plus side is that it isn't contagious in the same way as chickenpox so James and Isla and all the babies at Sylvia Park yesterday should be all good!

We just had a trip to the dr's today as I suspected that Anastasia also had chicken pox, had spots with the blisters on them, got to the dr & he said "and what are these?" I look at him & said I was kinda hoping you could answer that question .... told him what my thoughts were he said nope not pox but not exactly sure what they are, but to be on the safe side & to combat any infection with her eczema flared up & her scratching her legs to pieces we came home with liquid antibiotics, liquid sterriods to get her eczema under control, a stronger ointment for eczema, panadol, lemnis fatty creme & pinetarsol oil for bathing - cricky what a list - poor kid has more to take than me at the moment.
Hope Maya recovers soon, has dr given anything for spots?

what a bizarre thing way for a flu virus to act... glad she seems to be on the mend, though. Has she been tired?

Wow Kez, that sounds freakily similar. Wonder if it's something they both picked up in Sydney? Mum and my sister both had that nasty flu that is going around, my sister was really sick with it, so I thought maybe Maya had gotten it in a mutated form maybe?

Yes makes you wonder what is going on over there Anastasia now has a really bad hacking cough, which I also have & I think leaning towards laringitis (sp cant talk haha) & we seem to have passed bugs onto DH also. A couple of the family we were staying with had been very sick, but at that stage I hadn't realise there had been deaths from it.
They say sharing is caring but I think this is a bit over the top

The flu in WA is really bad that is where the children are dying from it.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Nope, it was actual fluid filled blisters, and she had a fever etc. Molluscm doesn't make you sick.
