We are having a bbq with everyone( rellys and friends). We are having a really girly party, with lots of pink and white helium ballons, a homemade butterfly cake and bubbles! Not a theme as such tho.

Awwww those parties sound SO COOL!  I need to get a wiggle on and find a venue... So far I'm thinking pink and green balloons and cutie cutie cupcakes, butterfly and pretty bug decorations, party food and little loot bags, nice snacks for the grown-ups, and dag nab it I want a reasonably private garden-like venue and perfect weather.   |

Found some real cool first birthday decorations online, but have decided to just go pink instead as its heaps cheaper! Bright pink plates, table cloth, one cool 1st brithday helium balloon, pink white and purple balloons, a banner. Invites from whitcoulls.
Will prob have pass-the-parcel, have chalk for the older kids to draw all over the path, and bubbles!
Having it at our place from 11-1pm. Finger food only. Having a bbq later on for dinner for out of town guests (both our familys and a few friends).

Depends on where you are but some $2 shops have great coloured plastic plates and cutlery, also some payless plastics stores have party gear, ours does. doesn't take much to theme a party. I usually get plain plates in certain colours and then go for a few things with the theme on them to tie it in.
For Paris's we did a miffy party.. miffy was on tv at that time and she loved it but nothing anywhere, so we went blue yellow and red (crepe paper stremers from $2 shop, same with big packets of balloons from there too) and just did a miffy cake. we made our own invites - a big cut out of miffy holding a balloon with invites details written on the balloon.

Ayja's was a carebear party, again, got themed plates and a helium balloon, then went for light blue and yellow and white and just got a mass of balloons in all colours of rainbow, hung them in lines of their colours at the entrance like a rainbow.

computers are great too as you can find nearly anything online - we printed pictures of the different shapes that can go on the carebears tummys and made them in a round white cirlce and stuck em to the kids tummies with double sided tape so they were like carebears, was so cute.

doesn't have to be expensive, $2 shop and online are your best friends when doing parties!
