Has anyone else had one of these post c section? I've been in awful pain for the past 5 days or so, my midwife and I were trying to figure out what was wrong as my bowels have been playing up aswell and we thought it was possibly a UTI. I went to my GP on Friday and she said I have an infected heamatoma on my wound. She's given me a long course of augmentin but if anyone else has had this, how long did it take before you started feeling better? I'm struggling as I need to be at the hospital with DS but at the moment the only time I feel a little better is if i am lying down!

I personally haven't but my SIL had something similar and her wound ended up bursting while they were tryingt o find out what was causing her issues. She was unwell for about 4 weeks but I think thats more because her wound burst. So not much help. Augmentin can make you feel average too.

Ouch! Dont know about heamatomas, sorry... I had a wound infection 6 weeks after the c-section. Got very swollen and sore until I couldn't stand or sit without pain. I ended up on 2 courses of antibiotics which sorted it out nicely.

   Huge hugs to you.
Yes I have had this happen. I was in hospital for 3 days post c-section went home for one night and ended up back in hosp for a week while they sorted me out.
Was on morphine due to the pain (the pain was just the same as the day after the c-section when the pain killers wore off)
I was on IV antibiotics, fluids and somdething else.
I had to have a cat scan to work out what was causing all the pain and they found an Infected heamatoma the size of a toilet roll on my right hand side as well as fluid on my lungs and high temps for days. So lots of rest I was told not to move - that was easy as I could not without being in so much pain. It was a very slow and long recovery sleeping as much as I could. I think when Baby was 6 months I felt like it was easier to do things, but the infection was large so took a while to go down.
My suggestion is to seriously rest as much as possible and the antibiotics will help clear it up. I was on strong pain killers for months after and the usual panadol and voltarin (which is normal for post c-section) and this helped ease the pain making it easier to feed bubs as holding her to my tummy hurt far too much.

How long ago did you have the c-section? my MW spoke to the Dr who did the section and she readmitted me into the maternity ward so they could keep an eye on me.

I hope you have a faster and easier recovery. and they find a way to help you as the pain is so uncomfortable.

On a slightly different note, knowing that I'm not the first to be taking augmentin really early post-partum, did it give anyone else's baby a really hard time?
Excuse the whinge but I'm having a hard enough time as going to the toilet hurts for #1 or #2s, and no UTI after 3 tests, no other sign of anything from blood tests, and now my poor little 2wk old is having little screaming episodes.

Anyway whinge over, I'd be interested to know if anyone else had this.

Yep mcshort, augmentin made JJ really hungry and awfully windy. Poor little bubba! Just keep reminding yourself it will pass.
KH25, sorry can't help with the haematoma, I *only* had a wound infection...
