Hi guys,
I know there are heaps of threads on here but i'm still confused.
For about 3 months (May-July) we will be on only DH's income before I go back to work. the site says we are entitled to a small amount of WFF over the period.
My question is, I earn over the 60k mark and will be working from July onwards. Will we have to repay what we get from WFF if we claim it? I've heard a few nightmare stories on here about that.
Also, if I don't claim it while i'm not working, i've heard people saying you can put in a claim at the end of the year. Is that Dec or end of the Financial year?

I don't know if you can claim backwards but we are signed up and getting the pay out calculated at the end of the financial year (March) rather than paid out weekly.
That way if things vary we won't end up owing them $

If you dont work from april to july and then work from july to april, what you earn in the period from july to april WILL effect what you get and you will have to pay it back.
Sucks but true.

Yep you would have to pay it back, you can however sign up for it, give them your estimated income but ask for a lump sum at the end of the year instead of weekly payment. That way if you are entitled to something at the end of the year you will get it. And it's end of financial year not dec. Also you can back claim our accountant just got us some money for the year ending march 2008.
If you want the money whilst on less income though you could claim it while not working and then just make sure you save enough once back at work to pay it back in April 2010.

OH man, that doesn't seem fair!
Regardless of when I go back to work, help while I was off would make life SO much easier. I think i'll give it a miss to tell you the truth!! Who needs another bill to pay :(

Your annual salary is $60K but you won't be working in Apr, May, Jun - so your annual income with then be 3/4 of $60K. Work out your WFF based on that.
You can definitely apply to have it paid at the end of the year (financial, ie 31 March - but it'll get paid in about July/August by the time they process it) or overestimate your pay and get some now and some later - that's what I try to do.
