Ok so I am a really clean person etc how ever I have jsut noticed that Mikey's christmas toy(soft one) has Moulod on it.  I am really sad cause it is his first christmas pressy from us.  it cost a wee bit of money so can't just replace it.  I am pretty sure there is nothing to clean it with other then bleech which will ruin it cause of the colour's so has anyone got any great idea's.  If not I guess I will have to replace it sooner rather then later I am really devestated about it I know it is only a toy but it still make's me sad.

I don't know... but I'd be inclined to try a long napisan soak to at least stop the mould from growing (dunno if it does that, but that's what I'd try lol).

okay you might want to try this on a small bit of it first to see if the colours dont fade or mix ect. The other day I notice that McKayla has thrown one of her bibs where I couldnt see it. When I picked it up it was full of mould. Her feeding chair was full of mould where it was as well. I thought o boy well lets see what I can do.

I just grabbed Janola bathroom cleaner and sprayed it on top. Dont know when might have been half an hour to an hour I got into the bathroom and it was clean. Like clear clear. It is a bright orange cover feeding chair and it didnt bleach it. So I tried it on her bib and it didnt bleech anything except got totally rid of all the mould.

Hope it works for you but I will suggest try it on one spot first. (where it wont be noticable)

Deborah, I'm just about to review Shannon' Lush's two books on stain removal and cleaning for the OHbaby! website, I'll go see if she's got any info on this topic as it's one that drives me insane as well! Watch this space...

Well, her book Spotless has some suggestions for mould removal on walls, showers and the vanity, but the only mould-removal suggestion that comes close to clothing is about removing mould from a handbag. Here's what the book says:

Problem: Mouldy handbag
What to use: Vinegar, cloths, oil of cloves, leather dew; OR drycleaning fluid, cotton ball, talcum powder, brush
How to apply: Mix a small quantity of vinegar and water and wipe it over the mould with a cloth. Then wipe with a clean cloth. Add 1 drop of oil of cloves to leather dew on a cloth and wipe over the bag. The oil of cloves will inhibit further mould growth. For black or old mould stains, apply drycleaning fluid with a cotton ball and sprinkle talcum powder on top. Once it's dried, brush the talcum powder off.

This advice is in the middle of a section on how to clean leather jackets etc, so I'm guessing she might be referring specifically to leather handbags -- although she doesn't say that in the text. I suppose vinegar can't hurt to try on the toy. And the second set of directions, with drycleaning fluid and talc, doesn't seem too awful.

In the glossary, she says that drycleaning fluid is also known as white spirits or Murlex and is available at the hardware store, so you shouldn't have to go begging at the local drycleaner's! She also says that white vinegar is best for cleaning fabrics (not cider vinegar). I'd skip the leather dew part of the suggestion as that's specifically for cleaning leather.

Hard work, I'd say!!!
