I agree with all the CHCH ladies, it's amazing down here, so much to do within a short distance, not far to travel as we are in the middle of the island, I have lived in loads of places in the North Island, orginally from Manaia in Taranaki, and moved heaps when I was working on various dairy farms, and even milked cows in Sweden!! But since my parents moved to the South just over 6 years ago, I decided to come down with them, they are over in Akaroa, have a luxury B&B, if anyone is keen www.garthowen.co.nz and I moved to tge city, and met a cantabrian, and the rest is history!
Don't like living in the city though, so hopefully within the next year we are moving to the country, if you do decide to come down here it is amazing, cold in the winter but lovely in the summer!

I think Chch would probably be my first choice in the SI. Not keen on West Coast (too windy) or Dunedin (hilly AND freezing) - gee I'm fussy!
