We went into our doctors surgery for Brennas 5 month jabs yesterday. To cut a long story short, she has reacted to both of her previous jabs, so our doctor didn't want the nurse to give Brenna her jabs yesterday and we are now being referred to Waikato hospital so that Brenna can be under observation for the day and possibly the night.
So this is where my "Grrrrr" comes in.....
 1. The hospital phoned us today and said they don't know when they can take us as there is going to be strikes, so could be tomorrow, or in a few weeks time. We just have to wait for the phone call....
 2. Brennas reaction have always happened about 8 - 10 hours after the jabs. The hospital also told us that when we do finally get in that "doctors have priority" (whatever that means) so she might not get her imms until midday. That means that if she reacted again it would be about 10pm!!!!!! It makes me so mad b/c I just want it over and done with and I want them to LISTEN TO ME!!!!! She needs to be done as early as poss in the day. I'm nervous enough as it is about her getting immunised again let alone worrying that sh*t is going to hit the fan in the middle of the night (especially if they send us home early evening).
ETA - talk about timing!! The hospital just rang and we are going in tomorrow!!! Argh! I'm shaking.... (am so scared of another reaction)

Well it sounds like half of it is sorted. Take yourself a good magazine/book/puzzler and something to eat and drink, but I hope you're not there long and that she responds well.

oh good luck for tomorrow. Hopefully she doesn't react to this lot (although different bubs and Rhyley only got high temp with his others) He had his 5 month ones the other day and was perfectly fine. So heres hoping Brenna will be better this time. Try not to worry too much (easy said than done though)

good luck for tomorrow. I hope her reaction, if any, is not too bad this time. Poor wee thing. Big HUG to you, and hope you find something to amuse you both for the long day ahead of you.

Best of luck Anna and wee Brenna. We had to do the hospital thing with Maya's last imms, and while it's not too much fun it did make me feel a lot more secure about her having it knowing that if she reacted to it she was in the best place.

Good luck for today Anna! I hope little Brennas jabs go well!
Sounds like you are in for a long day but maybe you could look at it as a day off from all the domestic stuff that always needs doing and it can be a day in which you only have to play with your little one and rest.

Good luck for today, here is hoping they do her jabs early on in the day, so the day is not too long for you and Brenna.

Hope all is going well Anna. What a pain having to wait there all day, it is such a noisy place to be with a baby and it is so hard to settle them! And how silly to say you may have to wait until midday to have the jab. It only takes a couple of minutes to do for goodness sake!!! Please let us know how you got on when you are home and able to |
