Here's my ode to Secret Santa:
Twas the week before Christmas
And all through my house
Were stacked piles of dirty dishes
And droppings from our resident mouse
Two weeks' worth of washing was undone
The front garden was shocking
The lounge was just filthy
And forget about the Christmas stockings.
We were broke from the vet bills
Since the dog has ringworm, mange and fleas,
And Baby Jesus was mysteriously missing
From our Fisher Price nativity.
At 7am on a Monday
I sat hunched at the table
Trying to write an article
And feeling quite grumpy and unable.
When suddenly to my half-awake ears
Came the sound
Of a courier throwing a parcel
On the ground.
"Why can he never bloody place it gently?"
I swore under my breath
As I opened the front door
Expecting a crushed, ruined mess.
Well, hey! What is this?
A parcel for me?
Please, not another
Request for free publicity!
I tore open the wrapper
And dumped it all out
Right there on the front step
Forgetting that I was currently without
Any pants and my undies
Weren't exactly the most flash
And I wasn't wearing a bra either
And I basically looked like white trash.
But who cared? It was 7am
And my neighbours could get bent.
So I sat down on the front step
And unwrapped each small present.
First, a teeny weeny cupcake-shaped soap
That I know cost at least seven bucks
Because I've seen it in the shops
And thought, "Whoa! That price sucks!"
But that didn't stop me coveting it
And Santa obviously knows me well
And quite possibly
Thinks that I smell.
Next, a lovely wee eye repair kit
For which my dark circles are thankful.
And a tiny pressed powder compact
So my nose won't be shiny from any angle.
There were also three chocolates
But I can't remember what kind
Since I ate them all immediately
Before someone else could find
Them and deprive me
Of an early-morning chocolate fix
Which means I ate chocolate for breakfast
And boy, was it delish.
There was also a tiny
Buzzy Bee ornament for our tree
Which gave me warm fuzzies
Since I'm a just-sworn-in Kiwi.
Last in the parcel
Was a gift for Emma Rose
Who certainly didn't deserve it
As she's recently started to pick her nose.
But Secret Santa was kind
And sent her two sparkly tank tops
Which I wish I could fit into
Except if I tried, my neighbours would drop
Dead in their gardens
(They're all quite old and proper)
And thank goodness for them
As I had to put one on her
Since, remember, the washing was undone
And she had nothing to wear
Except a nappy and jandals
And, well, her hair.
So thank you, Secret Santa
For those wonderful presents
Because of your kindness
My crap day turned quite pleasant!
All right, enough late-night terrible poetry...

I'd like to say i finally[size1]I don't want to sound ungrateful but it did take its time and I began to wonder LOL got my SS gift - thank you its lovely.. I got some lovely smellys, chocolates and lip balm for those who like to know - Josh said to me i should of put it under the tree and not open till christmas but I couldn't wait LOL...
