we went to DeBretts - which is a heated pool. I think AC Baths just had a remake - cause we were going to go about 6 months ago and it was closed....possibly opening the next weekend- but DeBretts was COOL.

Great playground in the centre of town.

We went to the prawn farm, but to be honest, Taine was uninterested and it was pricey. around there was the honey hive. it had burnt down recently so wasn't so impressive, but has just reopened and they say the honey icecream is great!!!

Agree - DeBretts is fab - all the pools are cool and the slides are great - probably better for older children though, cos they're quite high. I don't remember seeing any little ones there.

There's also PuzzleWorld which has heaps to do for all ages.

ooh, and puzzleword is free too.

Also, Rotorua is only 45 minutes away. we went to the paradise valley...and rainbow springs. expensive, but the kids saw a kiwi - jake still goes on about "his" kiwi" and we could see lots of animals which they loved.

Paradise valley has lion cubs - sometimes. When we went the cubs were HUGE and we were told" you can pet them through the bar NO NO NO NOT THERE!!!, not near the head" - so that freaked us out a bit. apaprently when they are little (at the time they were the size of my three year old), ou can man-handle them a bit more without the fear they were eyeing you up for lunch

Go to the flood gates the open at 10, 12, 2 and 4 during the summer months - very impressive. And Huka Fulls is cool.

The info centre has a lot of info that you can get for free and they give really good advice.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
