Hi expectant mums
I work for the University of Auckland and every year I have the wonderful task of finding 160+ women who are due anytime between March and May to work with 2nd year med students on a longitudinal paediatric study. The study does not officially begin until baby is born and the student visits you at home up until approx 18months of age. The students also take the opportunity to attend the birth (with your consent of course) but this is not a requirement of the study so no pressure. If you would like to help out call me on (09) 3737 599 x89493 - Sheree

Hi all - I'm NOT due between March and May (and hopefully all going to plan won't be ever again) but I did want to put a plug in for this study. Our next door neighbour is a med student and just so happened to be in her 2nd year when Andrew was born in May '05. She didn't attend the birth, however was a welcome guest every few weeks to chart his progress for the 18 months. It's kinda neat being able to gloat about all of the achievements over the period since he was last measured up - and to look back to see how quickly he'd grown. If you are available, it's a worthwhile cause - and doesn't take much time. That and it's an opportunity to teach the future doctors a thing or two about patient/family contact time...
Best of luck, Maree

I would love to do this if I lived in AK. I did a study on a baby (my friends) while doing my early childhood training and she has all the stuff I did to look back on in the years to come.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
